Lucky for us its a Hoax.
I would rather hear about it and find its not true than not hear about it and get hit with it unexpectedly.

Hoax or not I'd still be on the lookout!. I use Outlook Express and I don't have any problems at all but, I also use Zone Alarm and I have the firewall turned on in XP, I'm sure that helps!..

Virus? That would be too easy. I've been down for 2 days....Power Supply bew (pop, smoke, flame) and took EVERYTHING with it. Lost ALL of my data on 2 hard drives since neither will boot anymore, lost a DVD player, a CDRW, motherboard, RAM, CPU..... Basically lost everything but the F'ing plastic POS case!
Oh well, I fixed it and upgraded quite a bit. Now it's faster than it's ever been....but I lost alot of pictures and somewhere aroud 4000 songs (no they were not pirated, I transferred the Store purchased CD and transferred them to the pc) . So what did I miss for the last 2 days?

Wow Jim that sucks, sorry to hear that. That happened to me once got nailed by a power surge because I didn't have a good surge protector!.. I didn't lose my primary or secondary slaves though, everything else was toast!..
And I did the same and upgraded, but that's a shitty way to get to upgrade though!..

Yeah it's a bitch alright, that's why I save my important stuff on a Zip disk along with my second hard drive!..
To enable the firewall, go to your "Network Connection" and right click/properties/Advanced, there you can enable or disable the firewall!..

Well, it may be a hoax, but I just deleted an e-mail from someone I didn't recognize (Maria) saying "click here for greeting" or something like that. It looked like one of those cards you get on-line. I'm not taking any chances and deleted it.

Quote (BigBoyToys @ Jan. 21 2004,9:30 am) | XP sucks IMO. Â Too many holes in it and it's pretty easy to hack into. Â Alot of people like it, but for security reasons I think I'll stick to Windows 2000 Advanced Server |
You must mean the Home edition, I know that's a big turd, I've had XP Pro for a long time now and it works flawless,at least for me it does!..

Not seeing that on a right click. On the tool bar I have an Advanced tab that list properties but nothing on firewall. I do have some Network stuff turned on and I am running the Media Edition of XP maybe its a little different than XP |
I'm not familiar with the Media edition but you should have a Network icon on the desktop, or you can go to the Control Panel and have Network Connections and you can get to it from there!..
