A few years back, on HotBoat I believe, there was some guy feelin' everyone out about how they felt about this stuff and if they thought it would "fly" here in SoCal. Guess it didn't pan out. Anyone else remember? I for one would like to see it make its way here.

It would go over big time here, the problem is to find a place to put a track in, it's "racing" remember not golf, this guy was ready to start it up but couldn't find a place that would allow it, between noise and all the red tape and bull$hit fees, it just puts out of reach unless you're a millionaire!. :beat The sad part is you don't need much space and it's very easy to build!:rolleyes It does look like a blast, wouldn't mind giving it a shot myself!.. :good

Now all that "red tape," BS doesn't surprise one little bit here in CA. Too bad. I think the old Skiland site here by WD and me would be a good spot for an all around complex. Only problem is that they keep building more f*ckin' housing than they can sell. Would be aced out like RIR was for the MV Mall years ago. :(

Don't remember much about Firebird. Couldn't they incorporate something out there w/o alot of expenditure for land?

Actually where all RIR was, is all housing, apartments, and condos. MV Mall is West of where the track was. MV screwed that up so bad that the MV Mall isn't even in MV. It's in Riverside.

I still think Ski Land would be perfect.

Not that it makes a difference, but I beg to differ on the RIR thing. I spent at least 6-10 nights a year on Day Street asleep in the car waiting to enter RIR. And if memory serves me correctly (and it doesn't often but doesn't have to here 'cause I'm there at the med. clinic on avg. of twice a week), Day Street is west of the old RIR site. RIR Gate #1 (west gate) ran right next to the cement batch plant, which is still there, the north bleachers were right next to teh 60, and Turn 9 was just inside the corner of Day and Eucalyptus Streets. Tell me I'm right or was I goin' to the wrong place all those years? :stupid  :p

And who the hell knows where Moreno Valley ends and Riverside begins?  And what the hell evber happened to Sunnymad? Shows it on Google maps but I'll be damned if I can get there from here.:confused

BV is an irrigation lake and it's way too deep, you'd have fill part of it in to make a track, that would never go over. Now if you could some of the surrounding land that would be a good place!. :good

BV is one disgusting pond.   :puke  All the farm runoff ends up there as well. You kind of get this weird glow at night by the campfire if you spend too much time in that water....... :beat

A few years back, on HotBoat I believe, there was some guy feelin' everyone out about how they felt about this stuff and if they thought it would "fly" here in SoCal. Guess it didn't pan out. Anyone else remember? I for one would like to see it make its way here.
-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

It would go over big time here, the problem is to find a place to put a track in, it's "racing" remember not golf, this guy was ready to start it up but couldn't find a place that would allow it, between noise and all the red tape and bull$hit fees, it just puts out of reach unless you're a millionaire!. :beat The sad part is you don't need much space and it's very easy to build!:rolleyes It does look like a blast, wouldn't mind giving it a shot myself!.. :good
-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

Now all that "red tape," BS doesn't surprise one little bit here in CA. Too bad. I think the old Skiland site here by WD and me would be a good spot for an all around complex. Only problem is that they keep building more f*ckin' housing than they can sell. Would be aced out like RIR was for the MV Mall years ago. :(

Don't remember much about Firebird. Couldn't they incorporate something out there w/o alot of expenditure for land?
-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

Actually where all RIR was, is all housing, apartments, and condos. MV Mall is West of where the track was. MV screwed that up so bad that the MV Mall isn't even in MV. It's in Riverside.

I still think Ski Land would be perfect.
-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

Your right, that's the same entrance I used.

Sunnymead became Moreno Valley 23 years ago. :eek
-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

So you're the guy that would keep everyone awake all night w/your loud music and carryin'-ons! Oh wait; that was me. Nevermind..... :p Seriously; I wonder if we've ever met? I was kind of an out-goin', quipster-type jacka$$ back then. Nothin' like the withdrawn, quiet little self I am today.

And after all those years, Sunnymead still lives. Pull up Moreno Valley on Google Maps sometime.

Of course Sunnymead lifes on. My shop is even on Sunnymead Blvd. Most of the area's that Moreno Valley that weren't developed before MV became MV were retained by Riverside county and are still called Sunnymead  Big area that stands out is the Sunnymead Ranch area. Things change fast out here. If we met I was taking money from you. :eek Spent some time taking the parking money at that gate before I got moved inside.

-----------------------QUOTE END--------------------

Been quite a while since I heard anything, but at the time that was the plan, lake will be filled in too and the place will be developed. But maybe there have been negotiations to keep it, one can only hope, would be a shame to see it go away, seen to many of them go away!.. :(

Just saw the Lucas Oil series schedule and Firebird is on the list for the Spring Nationals and the finals for 2010... :good Don't know when the lease is up though!.. :stupid
