[b]What Can They Run?

The idea for 2010 was that half a million census workers, for the first time, would use handheld computers to verify addresses, follow up with people who didn't return their questionnaires and perform other tasks.

"It would enable them to enter answers from the household as they stood there, and to send that information either immediately or overnight back directly to the processing center," said Louis Kincannon, former director of the U.S. Census Bureau.

But certain "delete" operations malfunctioned, causing some major glitches. And after the successful completion of the address verification phase, the devices were phased out for any further use. The total cost, meanwhile, grew from an original $600 million computer contract to up to $3 billion.

Add to that the $14.7 billion bill that taxpayers are already footing for the 10 years of census counting -- a price tag that supports 500 local offices and a peak staff of 1.4 million workers.

Oh BFD, this is the Obama years, we don't count those small numbers anymore. :beat  BTW, it was your/our money he wasted not his, why should he even care. Besides, look at the bright side, all the guys printing money are getting overtime pay, that will give them more money to spend thus stimulating the economy.

I would guess that if all the people hired to complete the census were added to the unemployment.  Then unemployment number would be much higher.  And now we find that they cannot perform their task of accurate record taking.

My question is, what can the government do right.  Just read where they were giving the rights to the drilling in the Gulf to Russia.  Guess we don't need the oil!

Guess IRS will now be involved, indriectly running Health Care:

I guess the answer is to increase the number of staff for the IRS.

New tax mandates and penalties included in Obamacare will cause the greatest expansion of the Internal Revenue Service since World War II, according to a release from Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas.

A new analysis by the Joint Economic Committee and the House Ways & Means Committee minority staff estimates up to 16,500 new IRS personnel will be needed to collect, examine and audit new tax information mandated on families and small businesses in the ‘reconciliation’ bill being taken up by the U.S. House of Representatives this weekend. ...

Scores of new federal mandates and fifteen different tax increases totaling $400 billion are imposed under the Democratic House bill.  In addition to more complicated tax returns, families and small businesses will be forced to reveal further tax information to the IRS, provide proof of ‘government approved’ health care and submit detailed sales information to comply with new excise taxes.

Call it a big number and move on to the next waste of my money.  :pissed

If American voters only had the following two choices on the Congressional ballot -- keep all current lawmakers in office, or get rid of all incumbents in Congress -- what would they do?

A new Fox News poll asked that question, and the answer could be bad news for incumbents this fall.

Sixty-eight percent of voters would oust all incumbents, while 20 percent would keep all lawmakers in office.

Even 52 percent of Democrats, whose party controls both houses of Congress, would get rid of all incumbents. Thirty-two percent would keep them.

Most Republicans (79 percent) and independents (78 percent) would vote to get rid of all incumbents.

You shouldn't need a poll to tell you this. America is pissed-off. As today is Friday, it's possible that well over 100,000 people got pink slips today. That's 100,000 that will no longer have money to spend in their communities or even on-line. Thus more business's go under adding to the un-employed for next week. Until the cycle is broken it's a long downhill slide and the bottom isn't even in sight.

Signing bills into law without reading and understanding them does not build Americna Confidence.  Being handed a tax bill for every American Household equal to $31,000.00 per year knowing with increases they will only collect $18,000.00 with the balance being handed down to our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren does not build American Confidence.

What do they say.  Some 47 % of American Households pay some Federal Income Tax.  So what do the other people do excpept get free benefits.

"Back to the Census"

We never received a Census form.  So I wonder who did, and who didn't receive one.  It looks to me like they don't know how to count!

Confidense in Washing will not change and the country will continue to wonde,r as long as most of the people in Washington remain in office.

Yes I want Havasu and boating to get back to normal.  I want a lot of things to get back to normal.  But I am afraid that it will not for some time.  I have many friends who cannot afford to even take their boats to the lake and start their engines.  And these friends had nothing to do with the mess we are all in.

Based upon two of us.  I now wonder how many have not received their Census Forms?  The form so important they had to advertise during the coveted Super Bowl.

[b]Is anything true anymore?

Take Global Warming:

Geology professor Mann's 1998 climate study, which showed a sharp increase in the world's temperatures in the past century, was seen by many as proof that climate change was rapidly occurring and that humans played a significant role in the change. And despite ongoing criticism, the study formed the backbone of global warming theories.

Professor David Hand, president of the Royal Statistical Society, told the Telegraph that Mann's research would have shown less dramatic results if more reliable techniques had been used to analyze the data.

"The particular technique they used exaggerated the size of the blade at the end of the hockey stick. Had they used an appropriate technique the size of the blade of the hockey stick would have been smaller," he said. "The change in temperature is not as great over the 20th century compared to the past as suggested by the Mann paper."
