<00FFFF'>Wind howling, rain pouring and blowing sideways.  It's supposed to be like this for 2 days :eek   I think we have enough water up here already.  Every lake is at capacity and the creeks, streams, and rivers are overflowing.

Here's the latest satelite image.  I am in Woodland, just 15 miles to the NW of Sacramento....looks like it's just beginning :eek

Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,3:13 am

<00FFFF'>The national weather service at < http://www.noaa.org > is calling for Isolated thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday.  Lightning/thunder is rare here but We've sure had alot of it this winter.
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,4:03 am

<00FFFF'>Just sitting here in a cold garage, on the computer, listening to the rain pounding on our boats (3 in the driveway) and pounding REAL hard on the Garage door.  Don't know how everyone else in the house can sleep through this :confused
Posted by: GoFastRacer on Feb. 25 2004,4:47 am

Yeah and we're supposed to get that garbage from Thurs through Sat!. :angry

C'mon summer!.. :good  :jumpie

Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,4:52 am

<00FFFF'>That satelite pic is a live pic...it is changing :good .  Pretty cool!.  But, looks like that Red area is headed right for me.  Should be here in about an hour :eek  Looks like red means HEAVY rain at 5 inches per hour :eek   I may end up taking the boats out today to get the kids to school :laugh  :good
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,4:54 am

<00FFFF'>That would be the Jet Boat naturally! :rotflmao
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,4:58 am

<00FFFF'>Uh oh....Just heard a loud noise outside.  Sounded like the portable carport over top the biesemeyer taking off in the wind.  I'd better go check.......BRB
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,5:02 am

<00FFFF'>Boats ok :jumpie  But.....There is about 2" of water FLOWING down my street.  Sidewalks are COMPLETELY under water and its up into my front lawn right now.......and this is just the start of it!
Watch the news today.  I can guarantee you that you will see reports of widespread flooding in NorCal.  We are already saturated from the last storm and there's no place for the water to go :eek
BTW, I'm soaking wet now :angry
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,5:05 am

<00FFFF'>Uh oh....Just remembered I have a funeral to go to today.  This is NOT a good day for that (of course, is there ever any good day for a funeral?)
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,5:12 am

<00FFFF'>Here's our current weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service.  I am also watching the news right now and it's all about the weather....already haveing flooding and lotsa accidents.  If this is headed to SoCal/AZ, you guys better get ready cause it's a nasty one!

<00FFFF'>Local news just reported wind gusts at 60mph about 5 miles from me at their weather station  :(   I just know that I'm gonna lose a fence, roof, another boat cover, etc.  SOMETHING will happen from this....I just feel it.  Getting a little worried now :eek   But, I like weather so it's fun.....as long as I'm INSIDE sitting in front of the fireplace :good  :D

Lookin at your live radar looks like Pops is getting hammered right about now. He's about 5 minutes from the Feather River and Yuba River(I think those are the rivers :stupid ) he gets alittle nervous now and then in heavy rain. Allways talkin about "hope the dikes hold"

Hope things stay in one piece for ya.
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,5:39 am

<00FFFF'>I can guarantee you he's worried right now then.  Creeks are flooding, American, Feather, and Sacramento Rivers are at or near Flood stage.  They just said on the news that a few areas are already being prepared for evacuation, but not sure where.  The worst of the storm hasn't even hit us yet :eek
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,5:40 am

<00FFFF'>Little worried about Kindsvater Flat.  He's out there where flooding is common.....A little north of your pops AZKC
Posted by: AZKC on Feb. 25 2004,5:43 am

Maybe its the American instead of the Yuba river, I'll give him a call here in a bit :phone He's on a small ranch in the middle of farm land and orchards. It doesn't take much to make a mess up there.

<00FFFF'>Yeah, when it get's like this, they send out Levee patrols that actually drive along the levees hoping to catch potential breaks before they happen.  They don't always catch them but they usually find them by the bubbleing up of water on the "Dry" side.  Hopefully there's no serious flooding this go around.  It's just a mess with the wind blowing and the rain coming down.  That, combined with the predicted Thunderstorms in a few hours, can make it pretty bad.  I expect to lose electricity sometime today.  It's just the nature of the beast.

<00FFFF'>Hey AZKC, you can actually watch and track current river and creek stages at this website < http://cdec.water.ca.gov/ >

<00FFFF'>The Sacramento River at Knights Landing is currently at monitor stage and 4' from flood stage.  If it floods there, I am only 9 miles from there and I'll be in Deep poop

<00FFFF'>So you know where Woodland is then.  That's where I am.  Woodland is where you turn onto I-5 towards the Airport  from Knights Landing (Road 102/SR 113).  I used to live in Knights Landing also.

My brother worked at a small Kawasaki shop I think in Woodland, is there a guy with a yard full of old tractors right off the 5, I allways remember the tomato plant and those crazy truck drivers wrecking and spilling tomatoes all over the road.

<00FFFF'>Ok, just got back from taking the kids to school.  I took my Lifted PU and couldn't keep it straight going down thr road.  When the kids got out of the truck at school, the rain blew inside the truck and SOAKED the interior....it's raining and blowing that hard!  The Elkhorn Causeway, which is on I-5 between Woodland and the Sacramento Airport, is flooded with wind gusts reported at 70 mph.  The CHP are escorting cars through there.  However, the worst of the storm is supposed to hit in 2 to 3 hours, about the time Mrs BBT heads to school.  Since she has to go to Sacramento Via I-5, she isn't gonna go due to the flooding on the causeway and the dangerous winds.  So, anyway, I 'm on my way back from taking the kids to school and am in line of cars at a 4 way stop.  BOOOOOOMMMM!  I hear a loud noise.  The car RIGHT BEHIND me had a HUGE Oak Limb fall of a tree and land on their hood.  I got out and made sure they were ok...they were so I got the hell outta Dodge.  I get home, and my portable carport over the Biesemeyer is COMPLETELY GONE!!!! :angry   At this point, there isn't much I can do with the boats but hope that they come out ok when it's all over with.  I also lost some Vinyl siding off my house (It has vinyl siding all the way around), lost 1 gutter, and MANY shingles off the roof (Cedar shake).  I was planning on redoing the roof anyways this summer.....hopefully it holds out.
Well, that's where I'm at right now.  The lights keep flickering so I'm shutting doen this computer before it blows too!  Catch ya's later!
Posted by: BigBoyToys on Feb. 25 2004,8:38 am

<00FFFF'>Oh yeah, I have lived here pretty much since 1969 with occasional moves away for a year here, 6 months there, and can't  remember a storm that is worse than this one.  It's definitely ugly out here...

<00FFFF'>Ok, I'm back.  Connected my computer to a UPS Backup :D
