<00FFFF'>U.S. to Give Cuba $50,000 Hurricane Aid
Fri Aug 13, 6:22 PM ET ÂÂ
WASHINGTON - Cubans hit hard by hurricane Charley will receive $50,000 in U.S. assistance, the State Department said Friday.
"The Cuban people can count on America's support in these difficult times," spokesman Adam Ereli said in a statement that avoided any sympathetic reference to the Cuban government.
The United States "expresses its solidarity with the Cuban people," the statement said.
It offered no sympathy to the government itself, which the Bush administration condemns as the one exception to democracy among Western hemisphere governments and as a sponsor of terrorism. The statement called on the Cuban government to make sure the Cuban people get the aid.
The $50,000 will be provided immediately, and all American private organizations and religious groups with licenses will be urged to export humanitarian goods to Cuba, Ereli said.

Believe me those cubans "hit hard" will get 50k to rebuild, trust me i have been there and have seen what these folks live in, you wouldn't believe the conditions that the average cuban lives under, 50k wouldn't fix 1/100th of the streets or plumbing in that country, oh and btw Castro will allocate that money, and that means the average Cuban ain't gonna see dime one. It's all a big game, a big atta boy for us. Better than doing nothing. MVG

Actually he'll probably use it for research and development on Arthritis drugs, sounds crazy but it's true, partially the reason i was there , for my mom she has osteo and Rheumatoid arthritis's , and they have a drug that will relieve the symptoms for months, i have to say the trip was worth it, lots of clandestine stuff to get there but was worth it, may go again next year, i'll take some pics, you wouldn't believe the conditions.
