Most jet drives seem pretty much the same to me. Berkeley, Dominator, American Turbine, etc.  That Panther seems very different though.  Primarily, the bowl size is a lot smaller.  The impeller must be longer to compensate or something.

Napanutt, welcome and yep its a Panther I had Jim a Performancejet in NoCal rebuild it and tweek it a little should have about 15% increase in thrust over a stock pump.
Not to scare ya but I thought my pump was rattling too(which I think they all do alittle) but my main rattle was a rod bearing on its way out and the BAM.

Heres a link to Jims web site, great guy and seems to know his stuff

Well total with shipping was right at $1700.00 the main expense was putting in a sleeve(which gives tighter than stock clearances) in the suction housing labor and parts for that was almost $1200.00. The pump was over 20 years old and had never been touched. Now its good for another 20 years.

I'm in the process of putting it in right now and it is kicking my ass :angry I have quite the story to tell but I'll save it for later :eek
I want to get it to Canyon tomorrow for a shake down/leak check trip but I have a ways to go still, finally got it(on a dry run) to fit but have to pull it back out and put the sealant on it and fight that bitch one more time.

Actually I think the impellers are smaller(but they are stainless steel stock)than Berks, I'll give ya Panther class later  :D

:laugh K-flat, someday when I go to a bigger boat I'll have a prop or if this bitch keeps f in with me I may have one sooner :angry  :rotflmao

Oh Well, back to work lunch breaks over....

Thanks for the heads up but already shot a rod thru oil pan when I first got it Feb of 01.It should (the engine that is) be fine for a while (been running it for about a year and a half and not a drop of water in oil). Thanks again!

OK the fockers in, I learned so much in the last 8 hours(one thing is my wife BC is a great helper, thanks honey) I'm going to have to get my own .com to post it all.  Any and everything that had a chance to go sideways did. Oh well it will make a good story for later :alien
A little bummed that I won't make a lake trip tomorrow, but pretty stoked about being as close as I am. Have to tackle some small electrical issues in the cockpit area and go over everything for the 100th time :D
Detailed report to follow, looking back its pretty gad damm funny. :rotflmao

Also,KC,I can really appreciate how much help a wife can be(besides the obvious). We pulled three engines and replaced them with two in just over and month and a half and I couldn't have done it with out her(quality family time)?!?!

Nope not me that was 87 Cole
He's makin some serious horsepower, just gives him an excuse to upgrade. No I blew my motor 2 years ago and just got around to fixin it and decided to do the pump also. Took last summer off to take the wife to Cancun for our 25th, that pretty much took all the boat money, but it was a great trip  :cool
Miller and I built motors over the winter, if you haven't ck'd out the thread yet heres a link, lots of pics you can see my cool shop, its my back porch   :laugh
