I popped over to ask: why is it NOT ok for a man (or a woman) to tell another person (opposite sex) they are HOT without crossing lines simply for the ego boost???

I figured the boating world would say...there's NOTHING WRONG with it...LOL...but I'm curious why it doesn't happen more often? Just a nice...oooo you're looking HOT today comment so someone can have a little ego boost that day???

I think we should be able to tell the opposite sex "wow, you're hot looking today" without it implying you want to go to the no-no zone...I know I would not mind a bit to hear that now and then from someone other then my pervy hubby who says it ALL THE TIME...LOL  :D

hmmm maybe I'm on to something, maybe the comment without the subconscience sexual request is the ego boost I'd like to hear more often...LOL ;)

I've never had a problem tellin' someone that they looked, sounded, or whatever good. Of course; when you're an old, fat, baldin' fart, there's usually little threat felt, therefore no repercussions. :p

Well..like gigamurph I am an old fart and not much of a threat to anyone !!! But in my mind I'd like to think I could be !!! I usually don't use the word hot unless I know them well.  I do tell women they look nice or pretty. I think hot crosses the line with a stranger.

I tell my wifes good lookin' friends they are hot, even the not so good lookin' ones.

Yeah, I agree...Hot should be used only if your very familiar with the person, otherwise it has overtones of sexual intent.

I've said to some women they are looking good or nice today.....at the gym I even said to one lady I wasn't making overture(I'm happily married) but just simply wanted to say she looked good.

Wasn't at a Hooter's but I tried it once. It did indeed come really quick and it was really cold too. She poured it in my lap. :banghead  I'm assuming that she had a good sense of humor too. As the mgr. that it complained to poured a second mug over my head, she was laughing her butt off. Best part about this night is that they didn't charge me for the two beers. :stupid
