OK, here it goes:

First of all, the upgrade didn't even start until afternoon on Thursday. :banghead We could have got a few more hours of posting in the morning, but I didn't want them to start before I had the board shut off first.

Of the 4 sites on this server, 1 of them didn't make it through at all. In addition, the IP address for it changed, so the new address had to resolve through DNS.

SSI (Side Server Includes) didn't work on the new server and the techs were slow to respond, but I was able to get that part going myself.  SSI is how pages build dynamically by bringing in info from other sources.  This is how board information shows on the home page.  My elk sites use this for all of the navigation, so they were really screwed for a while.

The security certificate for this site didn't make it through but we got that reinstalled.

The cgi bins on 2 of the 4 sites didn't work at all which meant the message boards couldn't even show the "board is offline" message.  Those issues didn't get resolved until this morning.

Last, but not least of the problems, the boards on all 4 sites are dependent on a Perl module that wasn't on the new OS for some reason? :stupid The module is responsible for shrinking uploaded pictures to thumbnails on this site and for showing the image verification system for new registrations.  I was able to download it from another site and install that today. :)

In addition to all this, there were many paths that needed to be changed for everything to function.

Thanks again everyone.  :) It always sucks to go offline, but the longer I put it off, the more problems I was going to have.  Since it's winter AND I'm currently out of school, I wanted to get it out of the way. :)

Unfortunately, you guys can't see all the new bells and whistles, but hopefully you can see that it's running more efficiently.

Purple Jurk is going to have to learn the new control panel to administer his site, but it is well worth it.
