I don't know the nautical term, but in aviation, Capt. Phil would have flown west.  :(

Wow...very sad indeed. His health had been questionable at best.

R.I.P Capt. Phil. :grouphug  :grouphug

Yes, R.I.P. Capt.  :(

I've been following the story since his stroke and then the induced coma....very sad, but he led a hard life.

Maybe I'll have crab tonight in his honor!  :good

For all the sailors I know, it's "crossing the bar".  One of my favorite poems.

Sail on, Captain Phil....fair winds and following seas.

Crossing the Bar
by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
 Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
 And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
 When I embark;

For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have cross’d the bar.

I thought the term was Davies Locker, or something similar. RIP Captain.

Davy Jones's Locker usually refers to drowning/death at sea. ;)
