Just thought I'd pop in and see if I needed to   :fouet   :D

Things are going really well here.  We sold the Hallett, so we are boatless  :cry  but we sold it to the son of the original owner, so it was a bittersweet sale.  He is saving for a new engine before the old one finally croaks.  I know he'll give it as much, if not more, TLC than we did.

Jeff finally got out of the plumbing industry . . . again!  He's doing the off-road race promotions full time.  Putting on races and qualifiers all over the country and now possibly one in British Columbia.  Someone in Morocco has even expressed interest in a race there! He is also helping a few friends in the off-road manufacturing industry promote their race programs, PRP seats being one.  So that is a little side cash.

I'm still teaching, but don't know for how much longer.  It's really difficult and stressful here to teach.  There is no freedom in the classroom.  Because of NCLB, we had to hire an independant contractor (who happens to be good friends with our superintendant  :rolleyes  ) to have us totally change our teaching practices to thier method.  I have had to watch all of the GATE money and anything else extra go to the English Learners, while the "proficient", "advanced", and black kids are either stagnant or dropping scores.  It's very frustrating.  Next year is my 5th year and I'll be vested for retirement.  I'm thinking that might be it.  Montana won't accept my teaching credential because I went through a "middle school" program.  They don't have a middle school program so it's not a recognized credential program for them.   :banghead  Funny, because I was told over and over again that if you have a CA credential, you can go ANYWHERE and get a job.  :rolleyes So, if all goes well, I can just help Jeff with the business and maybe tutor or substitute.  I was also thinking of starting a tutoring company and then selling it. My RE agent suggested I start a company because there are no outside tutors in the area.

Katrina is headed to UM in Missoula in August. She got a good scholarship (10K/year) so her out of state tuition will be the same as in state tuition here in CA.

Cody is going into 9th grade, not sure what sport he wants to play, but he's 6'1" and about 140 pounds, so I'm thinking track and/or cross-country.

Our schedule this spring/summer is going to be real crazy, but a lot of fun.  I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with my dogs!!

April 24-25-SilverState 300 in Vegas (2nd part of one of Jeff's 2 race series)

May 1-2 Jeff in Michigan with Griffin Radiator owners

May 5-8 All of us in Rausch Creek, PA for (2nd part of other race series)

May 21-23 in Vegas for Jeff's 40th BD

June 11 Trina graduates

June 13-20 Jeff and Angie head to Key West for 20th anniversary (may get upstaged by weeklong off-road week and KOH 3 movie premier in Reno :( )

June 23 head to Montana for Trina's orientation to the Univ probably spend a few days in Whitefish.

July 4, eastern Kansas with my family, then head to Southern Missouri OffRoad Ranch (SMORR) July 8-11 for part 3 of one of the race series.

The end of July or early Aug, mom and dad are either going to do the Jeeper's Jamboree on the Rubicon or hop on the Harley and go up the 395, across Yosemite, up to Redwoods and down the coast.

Mid August back to work :(

BUT, I do get to go to LaPaz for the end of the Baja 1000 this year.  Working on plane tickets and house rental this week.

This is how crazy our life is, LOL.

Oh! And we are almost done with the remodel.  Kitchen is last thing and we ordered the cabinets last weekend, they'll ship around the 20th.  Jeff's going to start the destruction this week, probably tomorrow.  He's been gone in Moab all week and will be home tonight.  :jumpie

Holy cow, girlie...now I know why we never see you! :eek

Trust me...I know how you feel regarding the stress in teaching.  There's a reason why I left after 18 years...b/c Cali doesn't give a damn about their teachers.  And NCLB has been the kiss of death for education...especially here.  Merit pay will be the final blow.  My former district just issued 429 pink slips for teachers...while the Sup gave herself a big raise and the board got raises and perks.  $136,000 for cell phones...to call whom?  Teachers use their phones to call parents, CPS etc...who's paying those bills? Ummm...yeah, they are...out of their own pockets.  What a concept!  I know firsthand how corrupt the administrators are...since my grant went to furnish the entire special ed dept of the new district office, instead of the classroom I was supposed to get. :angry  So I don't blame you for wanting to throw in the towel after 5 years.  It's just not worth it.  And you're right...a CA credential used to be good anywhere, now it means nothing in every other state.

Oh yeah, think there might be a conflict of interest with your Sup and the Independent Contractor?  I will say that our teachers would have had that in court in about 5 minutes...it helps when one of the CTA bigwigs works for your district.

Sounds like a busy summer ahead for you, too!  As for your doggies...maybe check with your vet to see if there are any pet sitters they recommend.  My bro thinks I should get into that business...having someone you trust with your pets and home is a big deal for most folks, whether "living in" or just coming by a couple times a day.  My friend's daughter got into that while she was at Fresno State, by taking care of our other friends' menagerie.  2 dogs, a cat, a cockatiel and a macaw...coupled with her experience helping to care for our education animals at the zoo gave her a pretty good resume and a great way to earn some money while at school, along with nice places to get away and study.

Hang in there, my friend...remember to be true to yourself.  Enjoy all your upcoming activities and happy early anniversary to you and Jeff!  And take lots of pics...I always enjoy seeing your adventures through your photos.   :)

Oh, yes, regarding Fed money.  The Feds are actually giving money to districts who fire all of their teachers and hire new.  So for districts that don't know where they are going to get paper and pay the utilities next year, that is something they are seriously looking into.  Not because all the teachers are bad, but because they need the money and the great obama is providing free money to those who need it in this fashion.

Sleek, I'm just gonna say that I hope every girl is as lucky as me when their man is 40  :bebe  and I hope they appreciate it as much as I do  :bebe  :bebe  Forgot to mention, headed to Reno on Wed morning for a work/play trip for a couple of days.  Gotta meet with the president of the Grand Sierra Resort.  When we went a couple of weeks ago, rooms, meals and drinks in the bar were comped.  I told Jeff that he could take me to Reno and show me the town anytime, LOL.  So we have to go back again, darn  :laugh

No time this summer for the river, what is up with that?

Got to tour the local whorehouse in Reno. Totally cool! Jeff is going to be putting on a race on the owner's property, so he bought us lunch at the restaurant/bar.  Then we got the tour of the facility.  Jeff had already seen it last year, but I missed out.  I'm telling ya, it was really neat! All the rooms are beautifully decorated and smell so good! They all are different and even have different scents.
