You can say that again... Thermometer says it's mid-teens outside right now... wrapped the exosed pipes with a heating pad and turned it on low, we'll see what happens.

Haven't had anything freeze up since I live in my 5th wheel in Albuquerque... that was a loooooong time ago.

Looks like we are unfrozen for now... any bets on me finding any heat tape or more pipe insulation in town today?

The water main enterance is a potty-poor design.  I'd put it all in a box below ground level if I had to design my own.

They probably were not thinking about freezing pipes when they were installing them.......at 115 degrees!   :laugh

Way to avoid busted pipes is to shut the water off and open all the faucets to allow for expansion!.. :)

That works too but only if the water flows fast enough to overcome freezing, depending on how cold it is you could waste quite a bit of water!.. :eek

When I was living in ABQ, it was in a 5th wheel.  Even wrapping the water hose in heat tape, and it would still freeze.  So I cracked the faucet in the bathroom one night... except my sewer hose froze... guess what I woke up to the next day?  Yep, a bathtub (it was a big enough trailer to have a full size bath) 1/4 full of grey water.

Good times....

A guy I know would shut off water, open valves and drain toilets, he'd even pour antifreeze down the drains.
