So a week has past since a startling awakening.
Last Saturday(actually sunday) night at a prime 2:30am my wife and I were startled awake by the sound of screeching tires and what sounded like a freight train being dropped from the sky.
Some douche bag obviously hammered from a night at the bar hauling ass in his car turned a little late for the turn and smashed into the curb, skidded across my driveway and side smashed into a solid concrete wall I built. He hit the wall about 12 feet from our heads in the bedroom.
Well, before I could comprehend what happened the phucker drove off with wheels and axles banging up the street. I jumped up got some pants on, grabbed my keys, flashlite, paper and pen. This guy ain't getting far with that car is what I thought.
By the time I got outside half the neighborhood was out there. I go looking for the car and only had to go about 1 block, it was parked, empty and no one in sight.
The messed up part is this. As the cops come and do their stuff, impound the car because it was involved with a hit and run, they tell us it'll probably get nowhere because in most cases people will call in the morning and report their car stolen. Because no one was found it can't be proved who was driving the car.
.
All in all everyone was very lucky as far as injury. Us because he didn't hit the house where we sleep, the wall sustained minor damage. The driver is lucky because he missed both a fire hydrant by a mere inch or less, as well as missing the solid 16" thick concrete wall head on by a mere inch or less.
.
By the time all the commotion outside had subsided I was more pissed about having one of my better nights of sleep being disturbed.
.
Even after asking around the neighborhood nobody seems to pinpoint the owner but all seem to have seen the car before. Assumption is its owned by someone in a nearby high density housing complex.(ok their townhomes) :)

Ain't life Grand? Treat it that way.

That sucks man,

But thank God you are all safe!   Just a few miliseconds of difference could have turned into a total disaster for your family..... It's everywhere now, count your blessings!

Yikes,  :eek. We sleep on street side of an intersection. On top of about a 4 foot berm. Only thing between us and the street is the block wall of the bedroom. If somebody blew the turn and came up the embankment it would not be pretty. Maybe I'll start that retaining wall a little sooner.

Glad you guys are OK. Finding that guy will be tough
