How have you guys been doing?  Things are still the same around here.  Busy summer.  I saw the post about the boat explosion.  I have some good pictures and video from that one.

This will be my last summer at Saguaro Lake.  In fact, this will be my last weekend there.  I'm transferring to Apache.  Time for a change of scenery after 10 years.  So you Tucson peeps that like Apache Lake...Look out for me next summer.

Thanks all.  I'm really loving the change out at Apache.  I've been boating on Saguaro for over 35 years and working there and the Salt River for 10.  It was time for a change.  Lots of things to explore.  Lots of history.  I checked out the Hermit Cave the other day.  Talked to the guys that were doing the repairs on the dam.  You know those guys stay under water for over 30 days at a time working on that dam.  DAMN!  Hiked up to the old silver mine near Burnt Corral today.  Pretty cool.  There is still remnants of a 1940s truck up on the mountain.  The season seems to be pretty much over, but I'm still getting up there every day.  If any of you guys get up there and see me, wave me down.  I've already met some great people there.  I pretty much know all the regulars at Saguaro, time to meet the Apaches.

Peace

Apache is still our favorite lake.... Planning on a Roosevelt weekend this weekend, but if the boy and I get motivated, Apache is close!

Congrats on the move, Saguaro gets old after a while.... :beer

The only place to legally launch at Apache right now is the Marina area, its privately ran by the Schusters I still believe.    :good

Roosevelt all the camping areas are locked down a long with the launch ramps and so on. I'm guessing that Saguaro and Canyon are the same way being they are under Tonto National Forest. Not sure were Bartlet and Pleasant fall under.

OK, took me 6 months to reply, but...Ouch!  How soon they forget.

Now get some people you don't like to start coming out to Apache so I have someone to put in jail.  That place is boring the crap out of me this summer.

Just before summer started ADOT put 30 truckloads of gravel on Fish Creek Hill.  It's better than I've ever seen it.  The rest of the road on the other hand, is so washboarded that I can barely stand it each day.

We had a good wreck out there today.  Guy launched his truck off the cliff looking out over Sandy Beach just downstream from 3Mile.  It took us about an hour to pry him out of that truck.  Even though the cab was flattened down to the hood, he walked away.

Let me know if any of you guys come up there.  I'll stop by and visit.

I heard about the wreck via Twitter yestrday they were sending the DPS copter up there. Years ago an RV lost it and landed just East of 3 mile. Guy died in that one. All that was salvaged was basically the frame it ended up on the bottom. $hiat was floating all over the lake.
