First I appologize for not posting earlier. We got home last night but was tired and bummed about the incident, today it really sunk in and was tired so I didn't to say anything because I probably would have a said a lot of stupid things. I read some of the other posts and I am totally grateful for your concern about my welfare!.
About the incident, I did not see it but I talked to several that have seen it but everyone seen it at a different angle and it looked different, but from all the descriptions I heard I gather that it was an evasive action that went sour!. The kids went up to the dam and floated back and were on their way back for dinner but they were on the wrong side of the river, Grier was going north and when he came around the corner he saw them and went to the right as normal, I guess at the same time John thought he would go the same way figuring Grier would keep going straight, I guess Grier made an instant move to the left but was too close to avoid them and ran over the other boat. But regardless how it happened, it's a very sad boating accident!.
I met the parents"Dossangers" last year at Red Rock and they are great people, this year I met his son John"Dos JR", we were camped together and they have to be the greatest kids I've seen in a long time!. John just turned 21 and his dad gave him the boat for his birthday, it's the exact same type boat that his first boat was, how cool. His daughter was 18 and such a sweetheart. The part that hits hard is just 3 hours before, I took John out for a ride in mine, we did a few hot laps and aired it out for him, when I looked over to see the look on his face, all I saw was the happiest kid in the world!!..That's going to stick for a long time!!!!...

I've tried posting a couple of times. Â It is really hard. Â Maybe in part because my daughter just turned 21 on the 13 of Sept. Â I met John at the river and spent a lot of time with Art and Sandy (much thanks for putting up with me). Â He was so excited and happy about his boat and being at the river for this event. Â I also talked to him at the Red Rock Lounge for about an hour. Â I was so impressed with him and his father (Wayne) with the boats being such a common bond. Â This has really affected me and how I hope be closer to my whole family. Â May God bless and keep the family close in this time of such sorrow.

Thanks guys, it is a sad situation but I will have good memories of the short time we spent together. Steve, it was nice seeing you guys again, we'll have to hook up again sometime soon!. Heather, it was nice meeting you guys, wish we could have spent more time, maybe next time!..
But now it's time to move on and think of happier times. The week was a blast, big croud, lots of boats and Thurs morning we were treated to a wakeup call. About 7 in the morning, twelve of the hottest boats came cruising up from La Paz side by side and when they got to Red Rock they all let her rip, it was totally cool!!...

Quote (RIVERRATMIKE @ Sep. 24 2003,12:06 am) | Hey GoFast, Great meeting you too that Monday afternoon. You'll have to come and stay with Heather and I sometime at my river house. You'd really like it there. Let's hook up again sometime and whenever your ready to come out for a couple of days just let me know and I'll see if the river house is available. |
Likewise Mike!.. Â I'll keep that in mind, sounds like that would be cool!.. Â
