It will effect all grocerie stores.  They will only pickit some of them, but all stores will be effected.  Which works out for me since I eat out all the time anyway on the road, but I feel sorry for those of you that have to go to the store with clerks that have only had a week at the most of training... Make sure you check your change before you leave.  |
I have a food 4 less near by. So I'll just go there. I heard on the news only Ralphs, Albertsons & one Store name is striking.
But isnt food 4 less affiliated with Ralphs? Oh well, we'll just see how it works out.
Btw I am not a registard voter... shame on me. Â |
Yes, Food 4 Less is an affilate of Ralphs. I'm suprised they are not part of the same union. I know that Stater Brothers is not a part of the union. Maybe shopping there would be better, but you get what you pay for there, no service and long lines. Oh well. There's always Costco.

Stater Brothers workers ARE union, but Stater's signed an agreement that they will accept whatever offer the union accepts. In other words, they are not at the negotiating table to fight for anything. That will definitely be the place to shop, but it may be a little crowded since so many other peeps will be shopping there.

Quote (Big Wake Jake @ Oct. 12 2003,8:34 pm) | Little Mary, Maybe you being a cat owner can answer this:
I just got a post card from my Cats vet.
They say he needs shots for; Distemper Rabies Feline Leukemia And FIP.
He's had  all these shots about 6 years ago. Do cats need them again?
Thanks, Ross |
Ross,
So that you know I'm not ignoring you, I'm trying to get the correct answer for you. I've got a call into one of my best friends that is a vet. She'll get back to me within the next few days and I'll have a definate answer for you.
However, my thoughts are that yes, you do need to get them periodically. I know you do for the rabies and Feline Leukemia, but I'm not sure for the Distemper and FIP. Well, actually, I'm not sure if you would need to get them for an indoor cat, but for a cat that goes outside, even if the cat stays in your yard, you should get them periodically.
Cats can carry some pretty scarry diseases. They pick them up from other cats through fights and love making But they also pick them up from killing things like birds, rats, mice, and any other little gifts that they bring home for you out of love.
It's better to be proactive than to be retroactive when it comes to any type of healthcare, for humans and animals. And in my opinon, there is nothing worse than spending hundreds of dollars on an animal and they ultimatly have to put them to sleep because you were not proactive. It's a sad time when that happens.
I'll keep you posted and let you know what I find out.

Here's the scoop...
Definately get the Distemper for indoor and outdoor cats because it's airborne deseases they are preventing. They should have this done every three years.
Rabies & Lukemia every 3 years also.
The way that my friends hospital does it is one vaccine every year...
Year 1: Distemper Year 2: Rabies Year 3: Lukemia Year 4: Distemper, etc...
Try to prevent from getting all vaccines at the same time. Go for one then two weeks later go for another then two weeks later, go for another until you are caught up.
She said that they are no longer vaccinating for FIP more than once. She recommends that you get an exam with the first shot and get the doctors recommendations, but you do not need to get the FIP, so be careful that your vet is not just trying to make unnessary money from you. For the other two visits, you can just get the shots. Remember cats age differently than humans. They are about 5 yrs to our one, so it's like going to the doctors every 10 years if you wait two years to get an exam.
She said the important thing is that the cat gets a check up once a year, like humans, just to make sure he is healthy and has not been exposed to anything that you are not aware of.
I hope this helps. She said if you need a name of a good vet to let me know and she will hook you up. But times are changing in the medical field for animals the same as they are changing with people, if your vet doesn't keep up with the current medicine they may not know what's new in the field.

He has just about as much as Regan had at that point and Regan was a pretty damn good leader in my book
