I don't know if its confidential or not but I have Lawyer customer that has Ralphs as a long time client.
He told me Wednesday Ralphs Supermarkets will be closing their doors for 30 days then re-opening.
Couldn't get any other info from him,, just that coment nothing else.
It would be presumptious to say HD and Mary are my friends, but from meeting them I do think they are top notch excellent people and I hope this strike ends positively and soon for HD.
The grocery workers have not had a pay raise in over 7 years, I think that is the combined lifespans of their last 2 contracts. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thats why I believe the strikers have so much passion and verve in this strike.
All the independant markets in my area except Trader Joes have sharply raised their prices since the strike began. That's how much they appreciate our business.
I wish the absolute best to HD,, and if he feels this is the right thing to do,, and understand readers HD Â is risking it all,, then the grocery workers have my families backing.
I hope the UFGW gets back to the bargaining table and get this dark cloud to pass.

Thanks Ross.
I've heard stuff about the supermarkets closing down for 30 days as well. Â That's a union busting tactic. Â That way, the stores can lay everyone off, then hire new people when they reopen.
We actually got a 40 cent raise last year. (2%) I missed out on 2 of the last three, though, when Albertson's bought Lucky. Â Lucky paid me 55 cents extra an hour to be a manager, while Albertson's does not. Â When all the checkers got a 30 cent raise several years ago, my wages were frozen. Â When they got their next 30 cent raise, I got 5 cents to be equivalent to them. Â Now, we get paid the same.
I have gotten a temporary job which means I can last as long as it takes to resolve this strike/lockout. Â Technically, my job is still waiting for me at Albertson's but honestly, I want to go back there less and less as time goes on. Â When and if I do go back, I will surely go to a different store. Â I've had words with store management and district management several times while on the picket line and it wasn't good.
Oh, BTW, I still picket after working 50 hours a week, so I'm going to be VERY busy for the foreseeable future.
Thanks, again, for your support.

You have everyone's support, but don't be surprised if you find out someone else is willing to take your job at less money. It is happening around the country. You all have to have news out there, consider this: There are more people looking for work today then anytime over the last 10 years and there are fewer jobs. If they want to fill the positions, even at less money, they will. I hope you get the opportunity to go back to work, but be prepared for the worse. I know people who were making $30 + an hour, who did this same thing in the steel industry and wound-up loosing everything, less than half finding anything close to comparable. And they were replaced with people willing to do it for half as much. Just my thoughts on this subject.
