Quote (AZKC @ Dec. 03 2003,9:13 am) | "LPEA employee" has a nice ring to it as a new nickname for ya  Pretty busy around there if "Cat up a power pole" made the paper Â
Now be a hero and go get that cat down
KC |
Nah, the paper has a hard-on for us.
I think the cat came down last night, just like we said it would.
See that insulator right above the cat's head in the pic??? On the other end, about 8 inches away, is a 7200 volt power line. There is a jumper that goes all the way over the top of the pole to the other side. On either side of the cross arm are 2 more phases just like that. Now, the only way to get the cat, which is probably wild, and scared, would be to send someone up there and bring it down.
Any volunteers????

They have one of those also, I haven't made it in there... yet.
FYI, Kitty is still on the pole, but the owner of said feline relizes that it'll come down on it's own. Â
However, we've had all sorts of crackpots come out and tell us they were going to climb the pole/get a ladder/ get a bucket truck and "rescue" said feline. Â
Like I said, that cat is all but a foot from 7200 volts... so go for it dumbass.
I'll keep ya posted tomorrow.

OK here is an update.
Our stance is that if you leave the kitty alone, it will come down... people couldn't leave it alone, so the cat stayed on the pole and looked at them.
This morning, we recieved reports that there were people attempting to climb the pole to rescue the cat. So what started out as a stranded cat, is now a public safety issue.
We de-energized the circuit, sent a crew up in a bucket truck with a snare and retrieved said feline. They tried to bring is down in the bucket with them, but the feline went ape-shit, so they dangled it out-side. Said feline wiggled out of the snare a few feet off the ground then hauled ass across the field.

See, that's what I was trying to say. Â The cat was up there because he/she wanted to be. Â It wasn't to get attention, it was to get AWAY from attention. Â Trust me. Â If that cat got hungry enough, it would have got down. Â Some people are soooo lame. Â . Â I can't believe they felt the need to pursue rescuing it. If it wanted to be rescued it would have been. Let's think about this for a second.... How did it get up? Â It climbed up right? Â Well, that's the same way it would have got down if people were not buggin it. Â People have this misconception that cat's can only climb up something.... They have claws, and fortunately the claws work for both climbing up and down. Â DUHHHH Â Â

I was kind of getting a chuckle out of this story until I read the update.
They quoted the LPEA tech as saying, "He was a blinding bundle of claws," For some reason, every time I read that it makes me LMAO! I can pratically see the thing spazzing out.
Forensic <-- Still laughing!
