My kids have a 4 day weekend this weekend, and do not have school today or monday.  Now I know that Monday is Presidents day holiday, which is a holiday that was designed to celebrate the combined birthdays of Lincoln and Washington.  But WTF is today? :stupid   The kids are telling me that today the schools are celebrating Lincolns Birthday (which was actually yesterday).  I can't believe how many "holidays" these kids have nowadays!  Back when I was in school (just a few years ago :D ) we didn't have half of the days off that these kids have now.  How do they expect the kids to learn anything if they keep adding more bogus holidays?

Check this out.  My kids are in school today but the disctrict decided that they should take ALL NEXT WEEK off.

WTF is up with that?  I have to work.  Who is supposed to watch the kids while they keep taking this many days off?

Lucky for me, my Mom is always there for me if I need someone to watch the girls.  What gets me is that I shouldn't have to ask her to watch them for a week.  A couple days is no problem but a week...

We always had Linclon's birthday (observed) off and Washington's birthday (observed) off.  They were usually two weeks apart.  Putting them together on this Friday-Monday thing is new though.  Good way to get a four day weekend.  Can't wait till I'm teaching!  I agree they get too much time off though.

Mrs BBT-break a leg on your midterms-mine start next week. Guess how I'll spend my weekend. :drink   I wish! Probably more like this :break

One of my "off the boards" river crew friends is an elementary school teacher who doesn't work all summer long.  She has her pay checks distributed equally through out the whole year though, so she is good to go anytime in the summer! :good

Oh yeah, Riverliver saw her at the Boston concert. :)
