A 19 yr. old saw an UNMARKED police car pull up behind her

and put  his lights on.  Her parents always told them never to pull over
for an

unmarked  car on the side of the road, but rather wait until they get a gas
station or call

#77 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not

pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was
an

unmarked police car  with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her.

The dispatcher checked to see if there where police cars

where she was and  there wasn't and he told her to keep driving, remain calm

and that he had back up already on the way. Ten minutes later 4 cop cars

surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her

side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from

the car and tackled him to the ground....the man was a convicted rapist and

wanted for other crimes. I never knew about the #77 Cell Phone Feature.
Apparently

police have to respect your right to keep going to a "safe"  place. You
obviously need to make some signals that you

acknowledge them (i.e. put on your hazard lights) or call #77 like Lauren
did.

Too bad the cell phone companies don't give you this little  bit of
wonderful information. So now it's your turn to let your  friends know about
#77.

Send this to every person you know, it may save their life!

P.S. I just called #77 on my cell phone and the local dispatch officer
answered. I told her I had just received this e-mail and wanted  to verify
the facts before I sent it on. She said, "Yes. That is correct.

#77 is available for all motorists."

RVRGRL, did you call to check this or was this part of the e-mail?

The story sounded familiar so I did some checking. Read this for more info:#77 story
According to what it says, this only works in Virginia and connects you to the Virginia State Police.

I tried it on my cell here in California and just get a "your cannot be completed" message.

It would be nice if there were a universal number to allow anyone to make a call of this type.

I don't dial 911 :D   I dial Smith and Wesson :good   You know, if California would issue more concealed weapons permits, there'd be alot less crime :guns   People need to defend themselves and it seems like the only people that have guns are the criminals.  Keep passing these stupid gun control laws in CA and it only hurts the law abiding honest person.  Criminals are gonna get guns anywhere and a "ehancement" for using a gun in a crime doesn't deter them at all.  I mean, someone is going out with the intent to murder someone and they're supposed to worry about a 3-5 yr enhancement for using a gun?  I don't think so :rolleyes

And that assault weapons ban, pure BS.  Even though congress extended it last week, statistics show that tthe law, along with the Brady Bill, have done absolutely nothing to curb the use of guns in crimes.  In fact, it has increased.

Take that town in Georgia where it is MANDATORY for everyone to own a gun.  That town has a near ZERO crime rate now :good

Sorry, got a little off topic but this gun thing gets my blood going :angry
