What a long strange trip it's been, but I've got a v-drive Campbell now.
Andrew and I pulled out of Tucson about 9:00 Thursday morning, after we both worked all night. Â Made pretty good time all the way, even if there was a little drama. Â Learned that we're about 4 hours from the river. Â We stopped in Quartzite to get gas, trying to avoid the California premium prices on gas, but we were'nt the only ones. Â I had been waiting in line about 15 min when a mini-van was about to leave, but I had to turn the Blazer around to get the pump on the right side. Â Andrew jumped out to get the pump, and I started turning the Blazer around when this old fat grumpy women pulls up to the pump and starts yelling how this is just bullshit and that they had been waiting for almost 30 min for that pump (which in itself is bullshit, because they pulled in behind me). Â I was going to back in between her car and the car at the other pump, but then I thought better of it, and a different pump came open. Â Andrew and I laughed about it all the way out and back. Â
Anyway back on the road, I can say one thing, the Interstates in California suck!! Â I've never seen rougher stretches of road in the Southwest befor, I thought Colorado road's sucked. Â Â Took the 210 around LA, and then used a little advise and went north on 5, then came back to Ventura. Â Next stop, Solvang. Â Pulled into town about 6:30 pm, checked into the motel, called 68campbell (Todd, whom I bought the boat from), then the Millers. Â Brad and Lindsey came over to motel, then we all went to look at the boat. Â Spent about 2 hours pocking and proding (with the boat you sick fockers ), and decided to give the man a check, no looking back now, I've become a v-drive owner. Â
We all load up, and with boat in tow, go to the bar and celibrate the new purchase with a beer. Â Keep in mind that at this time, Andrew and I had been up somewhere on the far side of 30 hours, so we grap a quick bite to eat with Wifey and Miller, then off to the motel. Â The plan was to leave about 5:00 am the next morning.
That was really freekin early, but we avoided some traffic on the way back. Â There was a fortuitouse mistake though. Â We were to busy talking and I missed the interchange from the 210 to go down and catch the 10, so we just kept on trucking on the 210. Â Man, it was smooth, less traffic, and we lucked out and was able to get on the 15 quickly then get just jumped onto the 10 and away we went.
I stopped in Blyth this time, payed a little more for gas, and didn't have to wait in lines or put up with bitchy people. Â Â Â At the Carl's Jr in Blyth a guy walkes up and starts talking to me about the Campbell, it was pretty cool. Â A couple other people gave the ole "that's a pretty cool boat" in the parking lot also. Â
We pulled into Tucson about 4:30 and tried to put the boat into the storage shed. Â Guess what, it doesn't fit, the trailer is to wide to go through the door, so I've got to wait now untill a bigger shed comes open. Â But, the power of the boards to the rescue, KC let me park the boat at his house. Â Maybe it will have and influence on him, and he'll get rid of the jets. Â
All in all, it was a good trip, got to meet the Miller's (thanks for everything Brad and Lindsey) and a couple other peeps from the boards, and saw quite a bit of country. Â Now, I'm just waiting to take the boat out, but I'll probably be twiddleing my thumbs for a couple weeks yet, since I've got to go back to Colorado and rescue my Cutlass and tools. (Oh yeah, another road trip)

A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.
