LAS VEGAS - Singer Linda Ronstadt not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino.

Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush .

Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air.

"It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose."

Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go â€” for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property.

Ronstadt's antics "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it," Timmins said.

Timmins said it was the first time he sent a performer packing.

"As long as I'm here, she's not going to play," Timmins said.

Ronstadt had been booked to play the Aladdin for only one show.

Calls to Ronstadt's manager were not immediately returned.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal before the show, Ronstadt said "I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back."

Looks like she got her wish.

3 or 4 years ago, Ronstadt performed on Jay Leno's show where Robin Quivers (Howard Stern's sidekick) was also a guest. After Ronstadt finished her song and went over to the couch, she launched into an anti Stern tirade with Quivers. She bit off way more than she could chew because Robin jumped right back down her throat. :laugh

The audience started booing Ronstadt and Leno was ready to wet himself because he was in the middle of quite a catfight. :rotflmao

She did the exact same thing here in San Diego Sunday night. She played at Humphreys Concerts and her encore started off with the exact same comment....crowd reacted in the same manner too.....Booo's and walk outs. Is she really enlightened by Moore that much or just trying to build up her own awareness again :stupid

These performers have got to get off the political platform when we've paid them GOOD money to sing...not express their views.

I guess that wasn't all either. Throughout the show she was bad mouthing Vegas and, indirectly, the people that live/work there. From what I heard, a large portion of the people got up and walked out before her little encore performance.

They were just saying on FoxNews that it was staged. She made her comments after her last scheduled song anyways. Some have the theory that the Alladin is trying to get some new (Richer) Republican Customers in there.
I think that the whole lot of them(Johnny Depp, Linda Ronstadt, Jane Fonda(AKA; Hanoi Jane), Michael Moore, the Dixie chickens, etc etc) can get on a bus and head for some other country if they don't like it. If America is the "cause" for all of the terrorism because it is so "Evil", then why don't people that feel that way just leave? Get out! Adios! Sayonara! Farewell, Vaya Con Dios!

I don't think any Hotel in Vegas has to pull a stunt like that to get people to stay there (the average occupancy rate in Vegas is well over 90%).

No, Mrs. Ronstadt insulted the Casino and their guests, and in Las Vegas that is one thing you do not do, regardless as to where in the show you do it. People were getting up and walking out, which means they weren't leaving happy. Which in turn that means they weren't stopping in the casino to drop money on games... you get the idea.
