Taxes will be at least $4,300 a year, plus any incidentals like special school fees and fire/police/park fees for the area.  You should be able to go to the county and look it up, or have a title company fax you over a property profile (most will do it for free).  It will have  current tax rates on the incidentals (if it's broken down on the profile) and then you add on 1% of the sale price of the house (as per Prop. 13)

thanks Gofast. i'm kinda thinking there's a flat rate somewhere that you pay based strickly on property value and location. not sure though. not sure if it varies city to city  or county to county or state to state or all three. :confused  :rolleyes

i'll take taxes over death...but not by much :break

Me too.  Mine is only $1000/year.  It all depends on how much you pay for your house.  With the over-inflated house prices in Ca right now, the taxes are also overinflated. . . but not the state buget, that's in a deficit despite these outrageous prop taxes  :stupid   Don't get me started :angry
