So I was at Best Buy with my brother yesterday looking for a new movie for the munchkin (I'm tired of watching Finding Nemo, Shrek, and Brother Bear over and over and over... I needed new material) and they had "Vanishing Point".  So, being the gearhead/car guy that I am I picked it up.

It's been a couple years since I've watched it, and have never watched it uncut... but fock, what a bazaar flick.   :stupid

Kinda "Easy Rider" except with a Hemi-Cuda.  :D

Oh yeah BTW, the munchkin got "Ice Age".   :good

That brings back memories. :eek  I saw "Vanishing Point" as the second of a double feature at the local theater.  The first movie was "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry". :rotflmao Anyway, I was a kid with no money and couldn't afford the theater snacks.  I took a bag of shelled sunflower seeds with me and that was it.  By the time Vanishing Point was showing, I started getting a headache. :beat The bizarreness of that movie did not help matters one bit. :banghead  I made it through the end of the movie, but I couldn't eat seeds again for a long time. :rotflmao

I even saw him on VH-1 the other night.  The program was something like the top 100 one hit wonder bands.  His band was on there for the song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". :rotflmao  He was, also, the writer and singer for that song. :good

When I dated his step-daughter, her and her friend met me and my roommate at a local club.  Her friend was the step-daughter of the drummer Ron Bushy.  The girls went up to the DJ and told him who their dads were.  So the DJ played "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" after introducing the daughters and the place went wild. :good

I guess I ended up being too boring for this girl though. She ended up marrying a Nascar driver. :rotflmao

I should say I used to know him because I haven't seen him in a while.  He quit the band around 4 years ago to take care of his ailing parents.  :peace

So we sat next to each other on his couch and watched the "History of Rock and Roll" on VH-1.  He had comments to make on almost everyone that came on the screen.  When Led Zeppelin appeared, he pointed out the fact that Zeppelin opened for Iron Butterfly at a concert in NY.  How many peeps can say that Zeppelin opened for their band? :rotflmao When Carlos Santana appeared, he said "Oh, I have a gig with Carlos in Vegas tomorrow". :D  I couldn't go, though, because I had to work. :banghead

Yes it is. It is the stereotypical psychedelic rock song. :peace  :peace  :peace  That's why it keeps popping up in shows like "Seinfeld" and "The Simpsons" among others. :D

It's my favorite car movie. :)

God I'm getting old. :cry  I remember "Duel" was the ABC Wednesday night movie and even though Dennis Weaver was a wimp in it, I thought that old shitbox Peterbilt was cool as hell. :cool "Duel" was also Steven Spielberg's very first movie he directed. :good

I thought the best part about "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" was the Sheriff in the Bell Jet Ranger chasing the Charger through that orchard. :)

yeah that 69 Charger was sweet. my all time dream car. What a shame they destroyed it. That movie came out in 1974 so that charger was only 5 years old  :cry

Gotta love them old Mopars.  YA know, when I was 17 years old, I had a 1969 Charger, a 1970 Super Bee, and a 1970 Road Runner.....ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!  DO you know what those cars are worth today?  What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time and bring those 3 cars back with me :eek
