We're coming up from Tucson next weekend.  Bringing my  boat, staying in Needles and launching there.  Couldn't find any decent accomodations in Havasu (holiday weekend -they're booked up).  I have a question for any Needles/Topock/Havasu locals.  We want to launch from Needles in the morning, go down to Havasu to party during the day, then head back up to Needles in the evening.  Not sure about the water level in the river, does is stay deep enough to travel back up at night, or is the water level too low to navigate at night?  Last time we were up there it got a little shallow at night, just wondering what the water depth conditions are this time of year.  Don't want to get stranded or hit a rock.  Also, Its just gonna be me and my gal, we like to party - any MUST SEE spots that we should look for this trip.  Thanx much ,  Kurt

Well I don't know how it is now but two weeks ago it was up(not real high) in the morning and by 10:00am it was low, in fact there were times when people were walking their boats out of the marina at Needles, even the the ditch pumpers, one morning I saw one idle out and before he got out he had to walk it back in, he plugged up the pump with weeds and mud!..Talked to a cop and he said they had it down because they were still looking for a body, they found it but never did raise the water!..

On the river at Needles, you should have no problems with depth SOUTH of the I-40 bridge.
If you stay in Needles, launch at Maobi (my preference). It's got a nice deep channel out to the river, but you'll have to trailer down to get there. Got a "funky" launch ramp with cement "bumpers" though. From there, you can go up river to ski/tube/wakeboard or go south and enjoy the sights (you can't tube/ski in the Topock Gorge).
Lots of beach areas on the river, north and south. If you go south into the Gorge, there's a nice lil' cove & beach on the AZ side as you head into Devil's Elbow.
The infamous Sanbar is a few miles further south.
In Needles, you can launch at Needles Marina or Jack Smith Park if you'd like, their exits to the river are a little shallow. I've had to "walk" my boat out before...
My favorite area to boat; have fun..!!!
