Quote (LookMaNoHands @ Oct. 08 2004,7:26 am) | Sounds good, bringing your boat? Â If thats a pic of it in your post, I'll keep an eye out for it if we head up river. Â When you guys go, do you exit off I-10 and go thru Vicksburg and take the 72 to the 95, or do you guys head straight to Quartzsite and take the 95 up from there? Â Just asking, cause on the map, it looks like the 72 might be a bit of a shortcut. |
I usually take the 10 to the 8 to Gila Bend take whatever road it is that goes back to the 10 then get half way to LA and figure out I missed my turn, take a short cut through Barstow launch at Needles and just float down river till I get to LHC. The crappy part is the walk back to the ramp.

You forgot the part where you stop for a beer/piss/food/gas break every 15 min.

Quote (LookMaNoHands @ Oct. 07 2004,9:33 am) | Thanx all for the help with my last post. Â Sounds like Needles might be a bad gamble this weekend, with the low river levels and bad launching conditions. Â Anyone know of a cheap, clean place to stay in the Havasu area that might still have openings???? Â Thx |
Shoulda boat camped, that's cheap!

My G/F and her 2 daughters live here with me, and when we take a trip, that's the way that they like to travel!! |
That sounds like us, we back out the driveway and the wife says it's pee time!.

Ain't that always the case? I used to be able to drive from El Paso to Sacramento damn near straight through. But then came marriage and now it takes about 15 stops because all I hear is, "I gotta go"

That is my son to a "Tee". That kid must have a miniature bladder! One time, I was meeting Jeff out there and the child peed before we left, at the gas station on the way out (where mom mistakenly let him get a gatorade ), at the top of Cajon Pass at that Jack in the box, in the middle of the desert just after the 40 split, in Needles at River Rd. and when we got to the trailer! After the first 3 times, it was kinda funny, but I'm sure glad his dad wasn't with us--he would have lost it!

WOW, what a weekend!!  Took I-10 thru Phx then to the 72 on the way up = 5 1/2 hours - only 2 stops!!  On the way back we took the 72 and the shortcut (state route 85) and bypassed Phx to I-8 and then in to Tucson, 5 hours - with three stops!!  So, looks like the shortcuts payed off.  We arrived at the Motel 6 late Friday. Launched Sat. and ran up to the sandbar, then up to Topock Bar for some awesome Bloody Mary's.  Sun. hung out in the harbor and watched the Jet Ski world finals from the boat then up to the sandbar.  I had my gal sportin her thong that day, needless to say we had no trouble finding a few cool people to hang with.  That night we went to Kokomos, it was dead till about 10:30, after the Jet Ski award banquet, then all hell broke loose. Got drunk there on Redbull and Vodka . Monday sucked cause we wanted to get a little time on the water before we headed home, but were too hung over to wake up early enough.  So we decided to do what any other responsible couple would do - we decided to stay one more night and called in sick yesterday  Actually, I think the Monday night part was some of the best, we just hung out in the channel and enjoyed the lights reflecting off the water. Stayed at the Hampton that night - I highly reccommend that place.  We took some pictures, but of course I can't figure out how to get them downloaded from the camera.  I'll post them as soon as I figure this out.
Drink more beer!
