this was copied from a drag racinbg forum and is being passed around on the internet. it concerns a thing called the Kyoto treaty.----

John Kerry mentioned in the first debate that he WILL sign the Kyoto Treaty as President. Little is being said about this but Maters need to know that economists have said this treaty will destroy most non-esential businesses (which would include drag racing). The treaty states that the United States will cut ALL energy related emissions by 1/3rd. What this will do is cause gas rationing or an extreemly high tax on gasoline. This will prevent race teams from being able to transit thier race cars to the race track which will force tracks to close and will leave racers no place to race their car. It will also doom the high performance parts industry.

President Bush has not and will not sign the Kyoto treaty because of the devistating effect it will have on business and the economy. I posted this here because you guys need to know whats instore if Kerry wins. I don't want to be typing on this site about the good old days three years from now. Pepole need to know this before the election not after. If there's a reason to vote it's this issue! This s hit will affect pleasure boating and big suv tow vehicles too!!!

here's more.-
The first line from Kerry is from an interview with Field & Stream magazine. The second is from Bush's website.

Kerry: Well you’ve got to enforce the emission standards. And you’ve got to fight with other countries to hold them accountable, too. That was the flaw with the Kyoto Treaty—the less developed countries were left out. And what goes up into the atmosphere in Asia can have an impact on a Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, or Washington lake just as much as anything else.

Thanks for posting this--good info.
I don't believe one iota of what Kerry has to say--he wants to reform everything and promises everything..he can't do it without the support of the Senate or Congress....which is near impossible to do for anyone.
That's my biggest response to any political post--I hate politics..period. :banghead

That would suck if it took out motorsports and the related industries.

Now for my liberal ''open mouth when I know nobody will agree statement'' In my best John Kerry voice :D "Well it would be a shame to lose one of our nations favorite pastimes. But there is a bigger picture to look at. What type of world do you want to leave our children and their children? Do we just abuse the enviroment and leave it for someone else to fix, or do we start now?"

We all know that gas is not going to be around for ever, maybe hydrogen, maybe electric, maybe methanol, but fossil fuels are finite.

disclaimer: All statements made by AZKC are his own opinions and in noway are shared by anyone on the boards except maybe AZDon

... and you think you pay alot for your utilities (especially electricity) now.  :eek  Since most electricity is generated with either combustion turbines or coal plants (mostly coal) the majority of these plants would be shut down, or at the very least drasticly cut back.  And since you can't build a nuke plant in this country, it's going to get really cold and dark.  Wind power you say?? Well, the enviro's won't let anyone build very many wind farms anymore becuase they disrupt bird migration routes.  Solar??  OK, but battery technology has got to come farther, or you aren't going to have light after dark.  Fuel Cell??  Great idea, but you need natural gas from somewhere to make them work... but the required decrease in emmissions will basically halt natural gas production as well.

Clinton, to his credit, didn't sign the Koyoto Protcol either, for precisely the reason of  the impact on the economy.  Basically the Koyoto Protocol  targets the US, and leaves some major polution producing countries out.  It is a penalty imposed by the EU when you get down to it.

No kidding, there's enough wasted energy to go around.

As far as the no win, I'm all for alternative energy solutions.  I plan on putting solar on my house at some point.  But, I won't be totally self sufficiant, I'll have to draw off the grid in the evenings and at night.  The problem comes when the greenies have gone so far that you can't do anything to try to relieve the enegy crunch.  Fuel Cells rock as well (all the hot water you could ever want  :good, you could take a 24 hour shower if you wanted), kinda spendy though.

Tree Hugging Democraps at it again :rolleyes  :rolleyes  :angry

The rain forests in South America have been burning for thousands of years, and it hasn't had any effect on the ozone or anything else.  The Earth is kinda like a Human body, in a sense that it heals itself.
The Democraps just need to leave everything alone and let people LIVE their life, rather than being told by some rinky dink wishy washy Democrap how to live your life.
And Kerry, just the thought of him gets my blood boiling.  Hanoi John doesn't deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as any true American.  And I've had about enough of his I have a plan, I got a plan, there is a plan, BS!!!  He ain't got NOTHING!  And I tell you what, IF he does manage to weasel his way into the White House, things are gonna get really ugly really quick in this Country, because Kerry is the most Liberal Democrat in Washington, and the House and Senate are BOTH controlled by the Republicans, and it has been widely predicted that the GOP will actually ADD more seats in the House and Senate after the elections.
When it's all said and done, if Kerry makes it into the White House, he will be TOTALLY ineffective because he won't be able to get ANYTHING past the House and Senate.
And that's a done deal folks!

From: "Barb" >

Hi! Received this from a very good friend in PA. she wants everyone to know what she saw.

Good Tuesday morning!  John Kerry brought his "front porch meeting" to our
Canonsburg, PA neighborhood on Labor Day morning.  Since you will never hear
the truth from the TV or print media I thought that you should know from someone who was almost' there.

The residents who live on the street where the event took place were not
allowed to attend.
Kerry shipped in approximately 90 invitation only VIPs.  In addition, there
was a hard luck case who was about to lose her job at USAIR and another was
an elderly woman who was having health care problems.  Neither one was from
this neighborhood. The street was closed to all traffic the night before and
all residents on the street were REQUIRED to remove their Bush/Cheney signs.

The sympathetic police officers on duty told us that Kerry used imminent
domain to claim the street for his purposes.  Residents who have homes
within the perimeter (approximately 1 full block) were kept behind a line
away from the partisan crowd.  The rest of us were not allowed within the 1
block cordon. A neighbor from across the street came to the line where we
were being kept and asked us to come onto his property.  The police told us
that we could not stand on this mans FORMERLY private property!  This was
set up so that Kerry's views could be heard - but not the neighbors. About 30
peoples (mostly neighbors) shouts echoed down the street "Let the neighbors in".

We could barely hear Kerry speaking with his microphone because press
buses
were used to block us off  from view!  This mornings papers are reporting
hecklers tried to interrupt Kerry as he spoke to the neighborhood
gathering,
but he turned our chants to his favor by calling us rude.  Even though
most
of the media was there to record our stories of not being included in the
neighborhood forum,  not one of them printed or aired the truth.  This is
what America will look like if Kerry becomes president.

Get registered and get all of your friends registered to vote if they have
not already.  Kerry thinks that he is better than the rest of us and he
has
the media on his side to make him out to be what he is not!  Finally, last
night as I drove down the street where the rally was,  I was shocked to
see
Bush/Cheney signs in almost every yard on the street!

I think I can speak for Mrs BBT on this one and say that it's GREAT that you use the pro Bush sig, and also GREAT to spread the TRUTH about that SOB Kerry.  And the truth is, he will say anything and do anything to get elected, and if elected, he'll mess up this country big time.
And as you can see by the story above, he don't care about anybody but himself, and doesn't care who's toes he steps on.  Spread the story and get out the message!  BUSH IS THE MAN FOR AMERICA!!!

"Election determines fate of nation"

In that this will be my last column before the presidential election, there will be no sarcasm, no attempts at witty repartee.  The topic is too serious, and the stakes are too high.

This November we will vote in the only election during our lifetime that will truly matter.  Because America is at a once-in-a-generation crossroads, more than an election hangs in the balance.  Down one path lies retreat, abdication and a reign of ambivalence.  Down the other lies a nation that is aware of its past and accepts the daunting obligation its future demands.

If we choose poorly, the consequences will echo through the next 50 years of history.  If we, in a spasm of frustration, turn out the current occupant of the White House, the message to the world and ourselves will be twofold.

First, we will reject the notion that America can do big things.

Once a nation that tamed a frontier, stood down the Nazis and stood upon the moon, we will announce to the world that bringing democracy to the Middle East is too big of a task for us.  But more significantly, we will signal to future presidents that as voters, we are unwilling to tackle difficult challenges, preferring caution to boldness, embracing the mediocrity that has characterized other civilizations.  The defeat of President Bush will send a chilling message to future presidents who may need to make difficult, yet unpopular decisions.  America has always been a nation that rises to the demands of history regardless of the costs or appeal.  If we turn away from that legacy, we turn away from who we are.

Second, we inform every terrorist organization on the globe that the lesson of Somalia was well learned.  In Somalia we showed terrorists that you don't need to defeat America on the battlefield when you can defeat them in the newsroom.  They learned that a wounded America can become a defeated America.

Twenty-four-hour news stations and daily tracking polls will do the heavy lifting, turning a cut into a fatal blow.  Except that Iraq is Somalia times 10.  The election of John Kerry will serve notice to every terrorist in every cave that the soft underbelly of American power is the timidity of American voters.  Terrorists will know that a steady stream of grizzly photos for CNN is all you need to break the will of the American people.  Our own self-doubt will take it from there.  Bin Laden will recognize that he can topple any American administration without setting foot on the homeland.

It is said that America's W.W.II generation is its 'greatest generation'.  But my greatest fear is that it will become known as America's 'last generation.' Born in the bleakness of the Great Depression and hardened in the fire of WW II, they may be the last American generation that understands the meaning of duty, honor and sacrifice.  It is difficult to admit, but I know these terms are spoken with only hollow detachment by many (but not all) in my generation.  Too many citizens today mistake 'living in America' as 'being an American.' But America has always been more of an idea than a place.  When you sign on, you do more than buy real estate.  You accept a set of values and responsibilities.

This November, my generation, which has been absent too long, must grasp the obligation that comes with being an American, or fade into the oblivion they may deserve.

I believe that 100 years from now historians will look back at the election of 2004 and see it as the decisive election of our century.  Depending on the outcome, they will describe it as the moment America joined the ranks of ordinary nations; or they will describe it as the moment the prodigal sons and daughters of the greatest generation accepted their burden as caretakers of the City on the Hill.
