I signed up last April on hot boat, but kind of lost interest since the weather was so dry (couldn't use the boat). Lurked a while, then started posting again.
Your right though, I wish I hadn't missed the start of "Who's still up", but I'm here know, just made a fresh pot of coffee too.

Sounds like what I need, it get's boring  this time of night.
Gota stay awake , and I've found that paperwork is not a good way to stay awake!! |
What we need is Rivercutie. Â Â I'm happy for her that she works normal hours now, but I miss our late night posting. |
I'm glad I don't do this all the time. But working nights isn't that bad, it's just hard to keep a tan!!

Quote (Rexone @ Mar. 14 2003,2:31 am) | Quote (Havasu Doug @ Mar. 14 2003,2:16 am) | When K3-River-Rat announced the challenge to race another thread to 1,000, I recall posting something like 200 posts in 2 days in "Who is still up?" It actually got overwhelming for me so I withdrew shortly thereafter. Prior to that, it was just a few of us and we only posted between midnight and 5 AM generally. |
I remember when you and I would post race to keep our count ahead of the other. Man we posted alot in a short time on there. My count went from something like 200 to 700 in about 2-3 weeks I think. Then like you I got tired of it and backed off to a more leisurely pace and actually got some work done. K3 was a trip though. It's sad to look back and think that that thread at that time was likely the highlight of his life and his days. I went back in there a couple times and read through a few pages he was posting heavy on, I had to stop...I'll try it again in awhile when I get used to the fact he's not gonna ever be there again. |
Yeah, I remember that too! We registered on hotboat within a day or two of each other as well.
Mike, I just noticed your signature on hotboat. That's cool.

Mike as far as that answer I gave you on hotboat about the meaning of "K3", check this out:
I have a ritual on many Friday's that will actually happen again later today. I pick up my daughter from Victorville and we listen to CD's on the way home. That song is on one of them and it's one of her favorites. Prior to this week, I told her that I knew someone from Kankakee (Chuck) and she thought that was special. This ritual, also, includes pointing out your billboard and commenting on it. The subject never gets old. Like I say, it is a ritual. Talk about a small world! When we do this again today, I'm sure I will have something to say about Chuck to her and your friendship with him as well. I don't what I'll say yet because she's only 7, but I'll think of something.

See ya Mike.
Doug, is that the original Arlo Guthrie (I think I spelled that right) version, or the cover that Willey did ?
And Doug, even though she's 7, she knows what friendship is and will understand what Chuck meant to you.

That's the original Arlo Guthrie version. I had to take my daughter to the Emergency Room in the middle of the night several months ago. It turned out to be nothing, but it was very comforting for us when we drove home knowing that she was doing better. That song was playing and I think that's partly why it is special to her. I, also, tape the Boston Pops every year on the 4th of July. I was able to show her the one from 2001 in which Arlo Guthrie performed that song in addition to "This Land is Your Land". She knew that song from school. She got a kick out of it. Arlo tells a great story and always with a sense of humor.
