The power of the boards never cease to amaze me, when you ask for something it is always amazing how many people will step up and lend a hand. This situation is a little different, my bosses young son (just turned One two months ago) is very sick, he was born wit a bad heart and a few other problems, in regards to the Heart they thought that by putting in a stint that everything would be okay, well 9 surgeries later everything isn't better. In fact they went to put the stint in his Heart a little over a week ago, they were thinking that such a simple surgery wouldn't be a problem, they were wrong, they had to bring his little body back to life three times in 2 hours, they had to bring him back a total of 7 times in one 24 hour period. The Heart was weakening extremely fast, the Doctors thought that the only way to save this little guy was a Heart Transplant. you can imagine the families dismay at this point, they went from a simple stint to possibly living near UCLA waiting for a new Heart. Well they had the little guy on a Heart Lung bypass machine and miraculously he started to make a very brave comeback, the machine at first was doing a 100% of the work, then they were able to crank it down so that the machine was doing 75%, then 50%, then 25% then he was doing all the work. We all thought that he was going to defy the odds, until today, we just got word that he has taken a turn for the worse, at this point the Doctors are saying that they don't even think that a Transplant will save him, his little body is kind of saying that it has had enough.

Sorry for the ramblings on, if the story all over the place I apologize, as you can imagine the mood of the office is a bit down right now, I just wanted to ask all of you to think of this little guy and his family, they could use all of our thoughts and prayers as they go through this very difficult time...

I will definitely keep you guys posted with any news that I get.

It is just unreal how much this poor family has had to deal with over the last year, my Boss who is usually a very upbeat, extremly motivated, anything it takes to get it done kind of guy looks like he has aged 10 years, he and his wife are very tired.

Again thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers, they need all of the positive energy that they can get going there way right now...

Some kind of good news to report today. My boss is in the office today, he reported to me this morning that his little man is as he put it "Inches" from being put on the donor list at UCLA, that means that the tests that they continue to run are showing more and more that he is a "good" candidate for the transplant. However, with all of the good news comes just a little bit of bad, if they conclude that he is not a candidate there will be nothing more that can be done, the family has come to the grim reality that they will have to say goodbye to their very brave little soldier, they will remove him from any sort of life support, take him off of all of the drugs that he is on and let there little guy pass away very peacefully. With that being said please keep thinking positively so option #1 becomes the only option.

Thanks Again to all of you for your very positive thoughts and prayers, I'm a firm believer that this will help heal this brave little soul...

Sorry it took me a while to read this thread, but sometimes I don't have the luxury to read all the threads. I couldn't possibly fathom the idea of my kid or anyones kid for that matter going through all that.

We got a spot of good news yesterday, the little fighter has been accepted by UCLA for a heart transplant, he will be moving to LA in the next couple of days and wait until they can find him a suitable donor heart. So things are definitely looking up, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go as planned and he will be on track for a healthy recovery.

BTW, found out that UCLA does about 6 different kinds of transplants a day, that is a lot...
