I was going up river Sat 5/10 pretty fast, slowed a bit for a small right turn (some custom homes are framed there above the fire station on the AZ side) got on the throttle again and was about 70-75 with a Schiada on my left towards the center of the river- before I knew what happened the boat turned right on a dime, I almost flew out, the right hand side of the boat was in the air, I don't know how it didn't roll, but it came down with a big splash, now only going about 30, but straight for a concrete seawall and a permanant dock,(concrete pylons & dock) Well not knowing my steering failed,(I thought i dug a sponson) I gave it some gas and turned to the left to avoid these hazzards, however as the boat almost rolled to the left side the engine was in the air with no steering attached and flopped over hard that direction and was well overextended and "pinched" my attempt to turn left at 30 turned left way faster than I had planned and the last 4 feet of my boat swiped the dock, then I hit the seawall, luckily I only smashed the left sponson about 6 inches, the most damage was the hole from the dock. It was pretty deep there and it was taking on water fast. A kid on a wave runner came by and gave me a line and drug my fast sinking boat to a launch ramp abotu 75 yards down river. Otherwise it would have sunk in 10 feet of water as it was pinned against the concrete pylons of the dock with the current pushing it against it. The kid on the jet ski got we to the launch ramp where it sunk and then we drug it up with a tractor. If the kid on the hadn't have been there I would not have a boat to fix. When we got it back on the trailer, I noticed that the plug on the left side (rear) was gone and must have been ripped out by the hard turn....
Big lesson- cheap price! I was alone, my wife and the kids were safely on the beach at Buckskin State Park, I did have a lifejacket on, there was not a 95,000 boat in the dock I hit because the house is still being built, and nobody got hurt. I did not have insurance on the boat because I gave up after getting turned down with about 12-15 insurance companies.......even better there was no boat in that dock or a person....
I will post the pics of the damage soon.....

Oh yeah- the most important thing I forgot!!
It turned out that the single bolt that links the hydraulic ram to the motor was completely gone......
and just one week earlier I had put locktite on all the nuts invloved with the sterring, except I forgot one.....way up under the motor, hard to see..... I can see it now.
I sent a pic of the hole, but it didn't post yet????

Also special thanks to a guy named Tom, (Havasu Concrete) who gave me a ride in his 25' Eliminator Daytona way up river to Buckskin to get my wife and kids. He then took all of us to the blue water casino so I could get the truck and trailer. My wife fell in love with his boat half way there and liked the smooth dry ride of the bigger boat....... I see an American Offshore 26' in the future.....!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is truly too bad. I think someone else on another board mentioned watching you and the Schaida, and you hooking left...at least you came out in one piece and no one else was hurt....some people only get to wreck once in tunnels so you should feel fortunate..
