I am curious to hear everyone's July 4th stories, what happened.  I am still coming out on Labor Day weekend unless I hear something that changes my mind.  If the discs dry out I will post some pictures of Pickwick July 4th.  It was great after we waited three to lock-thru the dam.

Had a great week, started off at Parker Sun-Thursday with lots of boating.  Went to Laughlin from there until yesterday and hit Cotton Wood Cove on the way home.

Met up with FuFu Queen and Hustler, great people to hang out with.

Nothing much as far as stories, just fun boating.

Came home yesterday and had truck issues on the 15 waited on the side of the rode with my wife and kids for three hours while my buddy drove out and towed my boat home.  I nursed my truck and made it.  While on the up side from Baker we were able to watch the Baker Fireworks sitting off the rode in lawn chairs.  The kids watched movies on my laptop.

We had so much fun, breaking down didn't break the week :eek

I was out at my river house in Parker over the 4th. Had a great time and the river was super crowded. Lots of big boats I noticed. Went up to the sandbar across from Sundance on Wednesday and then went to another sandbar on the CA side near castle rock and spent 5 hours there Saturday afternoon.  On Sat night at the Blue Water Casino was crazy!!! I was on my buddies new 26' Chris Craft Stinger 260. They had a outdoor concert and a 20 minute fireworks show. There had to be over 400 boats in the no wake zone in front of the casino watching the show. The fireworks were great, loud and bright! Other than that had a great time with my g/f and friends!!!! :beer

This is from the New Harold/Lake Havasu News Paper

Man dies in fall from boat
By Matt Bunk
A 21-year-old California man died Saturday after falling out onto the roadway from a boat in tow.
Blair William McCartney of Santee, Calif., had been boating with friends on Lake Havasu and was asleep in the boat when it was retrieved from the launch ramp at Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor Beach, according to a city official.
McCartney may have tried to exit the boat while it was being towed, said city spokesman Charlie Cassens.
Alcohol appears to be a factor, Cassens said.
“The information that I got from the police department was that - although we haven’t got the results yet from a blood-alcohol analysis - this guy was passed out in the passenger compartment of a small cabin cruiser-type boat,” Cassens said.
The accident occurred in the 1300 block of Lake Havasu Avenue. Witnesses told police that McCartney was the only person in the boat at the time.
“They looked back in their rearview mirrors and saw him step out of the boat,” Cassens said.
McCartney was pronounced dead just after 6 p.m. upon arrival at Havasu Regional Medical Center.

Pretty relaxing weekend.  Hung out with HD's daughter and my family in Lake Forest.  My father lives in the keys where there is a small man made lake.  The community he lives in had a 25 min firework display.  We took his little 10 seater electric boat out on the lake and watched the show from there.   It was nice, but I missed HD (he couldn't get in the community to park and watch the show with us)   :(

HeatherBlueEyes, that is a good pic of you and ParkerRiverRat.   :good

I've got two I can share...

Listen to this (actually, read this, unless you have a voice activated reader installed).

On Friday up at Park Moabi, around 5-6 pm, these guys in a boat 2 down from us decided to light off some firecrackers.  I was gonna tell them that it might not be a good idea with all the brush everywhere but decided to bite my tongue.  Literally 5 minutes later, all these people are scrambling for their boats yelling that there is a fire.  Fortunatley, I have been loading up the boat for the last 15 minutes with the portable bar-b-que, table, chairs, etc.  My wife comes running over yelling "We gotta go, we gotta go!"  I turn around and on the highway side of Park Moabi, all these bushes are on fire.  Madison (our daughter) starts crying seeing everyone panicking and yelling so I try to calm here by giving her az beer.  No, not really!

We finish throwing all our stuff in the boat, our friends literally throw things in their boat and we start to leave along with 10-15 other boats.  By now, the fire has gotten out of control and ashes are starting to land on the boats.  We create a little "ocean" in the Moabi xhannel and head out into the river.

People had the jet-o-vators shooting water up into the fire and it helped for a little bit but the brush was too dry.  A pontoon boat ended up closing off the entrance to Moabi unitl the Fire Dept. came.

Found out today through some people who were camping out at Park Moabi that they people who were shooting the firecrackers were apprehended and are being fined for illegal fireworks, and they have to pay for all the emergency crew, fire damage, and additional fines.  Talk about a bad weekend for them huh!

Good thing noone got hurt though!
also...

On Saturday we decided to head up to BullHead City to party with Salty Cracker and Fine Cheese (they have a house there).  Bear in mind that for three years all I have pretty much done is drive the boat down to Windsor and back up to the house.  A 7 mile round trip give or take.  We are fifteen minutes North of the airport when I feel this vibration.  I start thinking that maybe I have developed flat spots int he tires from not jacking them up and letting them sit for 6 months of the year.  We drive a little more and my wife says that she thinks she sees a blown tire.

We pull over and yes we have a blown tire on the port side (middle tire).

To add to the confusion, the starborad side of the boat trailer's front tire is seriously shredding tread.

So I have the wife and daughter drive back to town to pick up two spares while I kick it in the boat, put the bimini up and start drinking heavily.  Full 2 coolers of beer, water, food etc.  In three hours she has two tires, a $200 jack, and a pretty happy husband.  All gets changes and by 5:30 we are back in Havasu.  Didn't even hit the water on Saturday.

The kicker...these are Carlisle Tires also!!!!!!

I'll be replacing all six next trip and will ahve two spares.

I'd say it was a fun-filled trip.

I was in Durango, CO with lots of family.  My wife and I and the kids decide to head back to the 909 after the fireworks show since we wanted to get back home on Saturday and have Sunday to recover from the 14 hour drive.  We had towed an enclosed trailer with our motorcycles inside.  I hook up the trailer and none of the trailer lights went on.  I found a blown fuse and replaced it with the only fuse I had - 50 amps.  Turn on the lights and melt the flat four connector.  I get under the trailer, and there are several places where the wire had worn through due to poor wire placement and the wires were almost tight rope tight.  The only place in Durango open on July 4th at 10:30 PM is WalMart.  Wouldn't you know it, they had everything I needed and cheap!  I completely rewired my trailer in the WalMart parking lot, and did it in 30 minutes - It was a proud moment for me.  I was a bit of a sight, crawling under my trailer with a latern :drink .  I do have to go back and redo some of the connections as I just stripped, twisted, and taped all the new connections - but everthing worked great!

HM, to bad I missed you. I live in Durango, and I had all the stuff you needed to fix the trailer.  Oh well, next year maybe. :beer

If you come back next year, make plans to go on up to Silverton to watch the fireworks, best show in this part of the country.  We went up this year, a full 45 min. of big bangs and outstanding fireworks with the sounds echoing off the peaks for a good 30 seconds afterwords... to cool.  :good

Shoot!  Next time I will call.  We were told that Silverton has the best fireworks, and we almost went, but the rest of the family was busy being tourists that day and did not have time to get there - as it was, we arrived at the fireworks in Durango 10 minutes into.  The show was marginal, but my kids loved it.

My sister is actually buying property in Durango and we may make an annual Durango trip.  She is one of those Californians coming out to live in the country while trying to keep up a fairly fast pace of life.

Next time I go to CO, I want to take my CA plates off - as I seemed to be the target of glares and cut-offs!  I even drove like the locals.....about 10 mph under the posted speed limit.  The transplants are easy to spot, even with CO plates...usually SUV's or sports car, hauling ass, tail gating, and running lights.

Where's your sister buying property at (if you don't mind me asking)???

She was looking all over.  One property that I remember was on Rincon Road off of 228.  It is 76 acres with a 6500 sq ft home and a 2500 sq ft guest house.  $2.6 million.

She is actually looking in the range of $300K.  I think most of the land was East of Durango.

I did some riding up at Vallecito (sp?) Lake.  Nice lake.  Road to the top of some mountain - My YZF 426 only ran at 3/4 throttle and above.  Rangers got 'tude out there!  I tried to talk to a ranger who was checking us out at this gravel pit, and he walked away without saying a word.  He had to go tend to a milk weed in the middle of the trail like he was saving the rain forest or something.

Next time, I will make sure we hook up for some brews at the SteamWorks!

Good job on the spelling, Vallecito it is.  Nice lake, but it's frickin' cold.

Steamworks it is next time you're in town.  :beer  :good
