Some Jack ass named thunderbutt started a thread basically saying that if you did not serve in the armed forces you should not have an opinion about weather or not we go to war with Iraq.

Dave posted some pretty derogatory remarks about the marines at Pendleton and their lack of education, ect ,ect you get the idea.

Froggy took offence to that and it went on from there.

Someone give me the scoop on the drama with RD & Froggy at HB!

"As the Prop Turns" - a hotboat drama.  :laugh

I read what was in the thread up until late last night, but missed the end before it got wacked.  :(

I was reading it (backwards) right before lunch.  I go to lunch.  When I came back, I finished the third page, and I tried to go back to the fourth page and nothing.  Then I couldn't find it in the sandbar.

I thought something had happened to my computer.

Finally RD posts that he killed it.

But as Doug says, it turned into a soap opera.

The whole thing got way out of hand, but there were some remarks that were not called for, Yes there is freedom of speech, but try and pick an appropriate time.

Not when we are going to WAR ! :angry

We all need to stand united as one !!!!!!

Amen Brother. Long story short it turned into another RD Vs. Froggy pissin' match (IMO RD was in the wrong) end result being both of them resigned as moderators.

Not to bring the drama up again, but RD has the right to say what he said, while not at the most opportune moment and certainly not in the appropriate thread as he'd have to expect that kind of reaction, but the reaction from some were a little on the extreme side don't you think?

That's all I'm saying on this one as I'm worn out from the whole dealio.  But something along the lines of:

"I may not agree with what you are saying, but I'll fight to the death to defend your right to say it."

comes to mind.

God Bless all of our men and women in the armed forces.... :)
Me personally I take offense to putting our military down in any way. I have 2 nephews one is in the Marines and he is stationed out of Camp Pendleton. but is now on the USS Essex in Okinawa Japan. My other nephew is in Kuwait.I'm so very proud of them. My father was in the Air Force for over 20 years. I was a military brat must of my younger years.  I'm all for getting that terrorist out of Iraq. The courage these men and women have are to be commended. If it wasn't for them RD wouldn't have been able to speak freely.

Well this totally sucks. I spend more time at the river with Dave, but had some good times with Froggy and Audrey there to.

I hate to see my freinds turn against each other. We just went through this with two other HotBoat members that we hang with. It makes it hard for us who are remaining friends with both sides.

Windy,

I don’t know for sure but I hope that when things cool down a little bit and some time passes. They will see how stupid it really got and reconcile their friendship.

My brother retired from the Air Force a couple years back, I flew out for the events and party they had for him.  Very proud to have him as a brother and the way he worked for our country. :)

Hate to break the news to ya Marina, but here's the deal right now.
Kenny (US Army 82nd Airborne) is currently in a "forward position" on the Kuwait/Iraq border.  Since his specialty is an "advanced" specialty where he goes in early with handheld missiles in preparation for a larger force, I expect him to be going in soon....if he isn't already in Iraq. Here's the latest on his position "The deployed soldiers include a quick-reaction brigade combat team, which has as many as 4,000 soldiers. Also ordered to deploy were 18th Airborne Corps support elements consisting of the 35th Signal Brigade and 525th Military Intelligence Brigade. A portion of the 82nd Airborne is in Afghanistan."  But, as we know by the phone and letters, Kenny is not in one of the groups in Afghanistan and is indeed in Kuwait....

Josh (US Marine Corp 1st div, 2nd Bat, 4th MAR Weapons) is also in Kuwait on the Iraq border.  They will be 1 of the first groups going into Iraq.  The USS Essex is back at it's home port and the Marines that were aboard have joined their home based divisions. Here's the latest on his position "The Pentagon ordered some units of the 45,000-member expeditionary force to deploy to the Persian Gulf region to join thousands of other American troops preparing for a possible war with Iraq. Roughly 7,000 Marines from the 1st Marine Regiment and about 3,000 sailors left San Diego January 17, 2003. The Marines and sailors left San Diego aboard the amphibious assault ships USS Bonhomme Richard and USS Boxer, amphibious transport dock ships USS Cleveland and USS Dubuque, and dock landing ships USS Anchorage, USS Comstock and USS Pearl Harbor.
More than 1,000 Marines from the 1st MEF are already in Kuwait at Camp Commando, a desert base camp near Iraq."

By the way......Don't go giving this info to mom since, well, you know her.  Let her think that they are somewhere else....

I'm now going to be on the edge of my seat watching and listening to the news. I love them both and pray that they are going to be ok.....This is one of the hardest things to do sit and wait...I know that they are very well trained and they have no doughts about being there doing what they love to do, Making sure they stop the terrists before they come after us again. to Protect our freedom and our lives.God be with all our men and women, and their familys as we wait.

Glad to see all the support for the troops over here at Havasudougs, some of the bullshit that is going on at hotboat.net just makes me sick !!

It appears that a lot of us have love ones that are over there, they need are support. When I see and hear the anti-war protest It makes me mad, yes I know there is freedom of speach, but I can't help and think how the brave men and women that are fighting for us must feel If they saw this going on.

I could not agree with you more RL. The only reason we have freedom of speech is because our troops are willing to fight for it!  :angry I have read some of what is going on over on HB and those people need to just get over it.

I agree with you all the way.It makes me so mad too. I know We are doing the right thing, because the terrorist are cowards they can't confront us they strike from behind. Those people who protest don't know crap about whats going on and they need to just keep their mouths shut. Thats my opinion. I'm not sorry if you don't like it.To bad.I have freedom of speech to! :angry

Seems to be a little Anti RiverDave sentiment in here.

In the interest of not reigniting that whole situation I'm not going to bother explaining myself (again).    That whole deal with Wes and I has been building for awhile, and unfortunately I said something I shouldn't have (in regards to the marines) which I apollogized for several times over.

Before you go casting judgement on me though, ya might want to ask yourself if you've ever said something and then later on thought about it and realized that it was a stupid thing to say.

Just becuase it's in "print" and people can refer back to it at any given time doesn't mean people don't make mistakes.   People say stupid shit all the time on message boards, that's typically where most the flaming comes from.
To be perfectly honest with you,  I think I've done a pretty good job of being in the spot light for over 2 years and with the exception of that one thread not really making an ass out of myself.

If your going to judge me for saying one thing on one thread out of 2 years of posting and over 12,000 posts across all the boards well...  Then there's nothing I can do about that other then tell you that there's bigger things to worry about in life then what ole RD sais.

I've already made my peace with my friends on the subject, and for the most part I'm just going back to the river and having good times.  I'm tired of all the arguing on these boards.   I'll still participate in them, but I'm not touching anymore religious/politics/debate threads.. Just threads in regards to goodtimes and having fun.

That's pretty much all I have to say on the subject.
Sorry for the delayed response.
RD
