Quote (Mrs big boy toys @ Mar. 18 2003,7:59 pm) | God Bless all of our men and women in the armed forces.... Me personally I take offense to putting our military down in any way. I have 2 nephews one is in the Marines and he is stationed out of Camp Pendleton. but is now on the USS Essex in Okinawa Japan. My other nephew is in Kuwait.I'm so very proud of them. My father was in the Air Force for over 20 years. I was a military brat must of my younger years. Â I'm all for getting that terrorist out of Iraq. The courage these men and women have are to be commended. If it wasn't for them RD wouldn't have been able to speak freely. UNITED WE STAND.... |
Hate to break the news to ya Marina, but here's the deal right now. Kenny (US Army 82nd Airborne) is currently in a "forward position" on the Kuwait/Iraq border. Â Since his specialty is an "advanced" specialty where he goes in early with handheld missiles in preparation for a larger force, I expect him to be going in soon....if he isn't already in Iraq. Here's the latest on his position "The deployed soldiers include a quick-reaction brigade combat team, which has as many as 4,000 soldiers. Also ordered to deploy were 18th Airborne Corps support elements consisting of the 35th Signal Brigade and 525th Military Intelligence Brigade. A portion of the 82nd Airborne is in Afghanistan." But, as we know by the phone and letters, Kenny is not in one of the groups in Afghanistan and is indeed in Kuwait....
Josh (US Marine Corp 1st div, 2nd Bat, 4th MAR Weapons) is also in Kuwait on the Iraq border. Â They will be 1 of the first groups going into Iraq. The USS Essex is back at it's home port and the Marines that were aboard have joined their home based divisions. Here's the latest on his position "The Pentagon ordered some units of the 45,000-member expeditionary force to deploy to the Persian Gulf region to join thousands of other American troops preparing for a possible war with Iraq. Roughly 7,000 Marines from the 1st Marine Regiment and about 3,000 sailors left San Diego January 17, 2003. The Marines and sailors left San Diego aboard the amphibious assault ships USS Bonhomme Richard and USS Boxer, amphibious transport dock ships USS Cleveland and USS Dubuque, and dock landing ships USS Anchorage, USS Comstock and USS Pearl Harbor. More than 1,000 Marines from the 1st MEF are already in Kuwait at Camp Commando, a desert base camp near Iraq."
By the way......Don't go giving this info to mom since, well, you know her. Â Let her think that they are somewhere else....
