Pups came early this morning.  First one was around 2 am  Both momma and I are exhausted.  10 pups. 5 black, 5 chocolate. 2 boys 8 girls.  Hopefully she's done.  I don't want to have to feed 'em formula every 2 hours.

Funny, the last one arrived while she was standing up, drinking water.  PLOP!  Just like a giraffe. All the wimps in my house had to leave when she was eating the cord and placenta  :puke I'm not really bothered by it.  It's just nature.

I've been trying to talk Becky into a black lab so we can have the complete set... :D

Olivia (Becky's dog) is a Yellow lab mix
Goof ball... I mean Alley.. Chocolate...

One more would be... a lot of poop to pick up... :D

There won't be any yellows, Aaron, it doesn't work that way. But the blacks could have yellow babies.

Nope, chocs have 2 recessive chocolate genes.  Yellows have two recessive yellow genes.  There is no black gene.  That's the default when you have one yellow and one chocolate gene.  I know several people that have thought they would breed a choc and a yellow and were sure bummed when they got ALL black puppies.  Each pup had one yellow and one brown gene.  Pretty interesting, I think.  If I bred my male with a yellow, she would have black and yellow pups.
