Requires RETAILER seller to certify on the original application for a CF# if vessel is in compliance.
.
..............................

Smoking in Vehicles with Minor Passengers
Amend: Code 12814.6

Makes it an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 for a person to smoke a pipe, cigar or cigarette in a motor v ehicle any time a minor is present in the vehicle.
.
..............................

Wireless Devices
Amend and add: Code 12810.3, 23123 and 23124(operative July 1, 2008)

Prohibits a person under the age of 18 from driving a motor vehicle while using a wireless device(cells, mobile service device) even if equipped with handsferee device.

IMO this is a biggie right here. I read a story a while back that a 17 year old girl was texting while driving, she lost control of the car, went over the center divide and had a head on, killing her and two others, tragic...

I think they have to prove that you were using the device....which is easy enough if you hand it over. They can check the time of the last call made or received. I guess you have to keep the phone turned off while driving.

And does that include "OnStar"??  What happens if they call to tell you that the ashtray is full?  :stupid

You havn't had a ticket for a while. Gotta prove your innocent in court. BTW, this is CA, gotta be able to hand the phone to the LEO for him to check. Now we gotta send the cops to phone school. Not to sure they could check anyway. FCC says no. We haven't even got to the people that just like to talk to themselfs yet. I could write a book on this.  :pirate

Do not forget about the "wireless device" for everyone else over 18, as of July 1, 2008 must be hands free.
Speaker phone is not considered hands free.

Couple of years ago I went to a speaker phone. Trashed it fast. I thought it was more dangerous than just the cell.

Couldn't get it passed. All the voters thought it might effect them too. Voted for another raise instead.

I'm ok with using a 'blue tooth' type hands free...but the corded ear pieces that end up wrapped around your arm and stearing wheel while turning (using hand over hand method required by DMW testing) seems FAR MORE DANGEROUS to me...

I personally think teenagers should not have cell phones while driving...handsfree or not, they can't drive worth crap and are still learning how to properly navigate the potiental death trap called a car. Even those that have been driving a tracktor since 5th grade...(yes we have those here, I was one of them!;) but during those teen years, burn outs, showing off, speeding, being wreckless is typical and throwing a cell phone in the mix is NOT GOOD...IMHO  :D

This gagdet seems cool.

Hi, I'm Bob Mobley, Executive Director of the Lake Havasu City Marine Assn. There is an EPA law coming into effect in September that will effect us all. It won't matter if you have a 28' Magic cat, or a ocean freighter, it's going to be the same. The EPA will require all boat owners to obtain a permit from them, if you hose out your bilge, or squirt off your deck. Please go to www.boatblue.org and let your senator know, you feel this is unfair. There are 17 senators on board now who are wanting to change the law before it goes into effect, however we need more. This is important, and we need to deal with it asap.

Copied from Perforance Boats.
