Tonight I started my truck and the message center came up telling me that it was time to change the oil. I turned the truck off, waited a couple seconds, turned the key to the on position and pressed the accelerator 5 times to clear the message(this is the procedure to do so). Turned the key off waited a couple seconds and went to start the truck and nothing. Just a bunch of clicking under the dash. I replaced the battery that nade NO change. CE and I talked and I think that the starter may have hung up or the solinoid went south. Anyone have any ideas to look at besides these.
It's an '02 2500hd, 6.0ltr, auto trans 2 wheel drive.

Did you check the other ends of the cables, could be loose on the starter and/or a poor ground!..
Might try bypassing the ignition switch and see what happens!..

Thats the first thing I will be checking and trying. If it starts I'm blasting it home But I have a feeling that there is going to be something REAL expensive computer wise thats going to need replacing.

Well, hopefully it'll be something simple. I hate computer controlled vehicles I won't have one, I want to at least be able to band aid it to get my ass home, 90% of the time it's just a simple thing, not with those computer things!...

Yikes... I don't have any advice, as I know nothing about cars, but I hope it isn't anything too serious. We are looking at '05-'06 2500HD diesels right now... You don't hear of too many problems with them....

Seems like battery cables are a neglected thing, you look at 4-5 year old vehicles and the cables look like crap, the only time they get cleaned is when the battery is replaced, and a lot of times the battery gets replaced because it don't get a good charge due to cruddy cables and the battery gets ruined!.

Most problems are from lack of maintenance, a lot of people think that just because it's new that you don't have to do anything with it, and next thing you know they have problems but yet blame the vehicle!..

Hell with the motor. That Tauras had so many boxes, senors, wires, vaccum lines, and a bunch of stuff I'm still trying to identify, I can,t even find the air filter.
