Don't know if any of you have seen this site before, but I just found it and if you go down about halfway, you will see some cool pic's of the old airport out on the Island. ( havasu)

I did my first long cross country from Deer Valley to Yuma to Havasu and back....

I was so impressed with this beautiful little airport hanging out in the middle of the lake, i did not watch my glide into final properly, and had to go around and try it again! The second time I was on target, but did a low approach on purpose just to sight-see!!

I know. I think that sucks. Sooner or later it'll be like living by the Calif coastline where nobody can gain access easily. :angry

I always thought that the island should be developed.  The middle could be all high rise hotels, condos and restaurants.  What could be better, the town is built on tourism and the lake.  The visitors would have great views and would be centralized, not disturbing the rest of the town.  Just my thoughts....

If its done properly it could be very nice but the little I've seen of the plans they do little to invite tourism but rather to boost someones private pocketbook.
A nice resort, as you suggest, I would be more apt to support........and more importantly make the beaches non-private like the state of Hawaii, open to all.
Its getting harder and harder to just drive down and take the family to the lake to swim freely.

There is another marina in the works at contact point.  And we are working on getting another bridge in (much more complicated than a person would think).  A big problem with the bridge is that everyone wants it, but no one wants to pay.

Most all of the shoreline is public access.  Like the beach in front of the condo's on the Windsor Beach side of the channel.  That is public beach, but to meet the requirements of 'public access' all the developer did was extend the boardwalk to the end of his property.  There is no parking, and really no practical way to access that beach except by boat.

There just has been too many personal agenda's for the city to actually build a tourist friendly community.  I don't know what the answer is to that.... :stupid

It's been said on numerous boards that the contracts developeing the island had to pay for the new bridge. I liked the idea of charging a toll.

All the time going there I had no idea it was public. Watch lots of scum bags pull up there to party. I thought they were friends of the mayor's.

That's what the cono owners want you to think.  But you should feel free to park there anytime.  Now the beach across, on the island side is private, but only the section with the fence and signs.

It's the same thing with parking down by Red Robbin, Miky D's, and the theater.  Red Robbin has a private parking lot, and they run people off on holiday weekends.  But the rest is parking in common and you can park there anytime.  Miky D's tried to do the samething till the city fined them and threatened to shut them down.  It was pretty funny.

No, I think they just weren't makin any money, so they moved on.  I don't really know the story, but I don't remember any big scandal over it.  Haven't been to the new place, heard mixed reviews.  But if it sux, I'll stay away.

I've been eating at Maddog's alot lately.  They have dollar tacos on Tues and Thurs, plus dollar burgers on Wed.  The problem is I'm not a beer drinker, so my bar tab is always alot bigger than my food bill.

Ate at Mexican place down towards Ziggy's area last Wed. Food was $30, Bar was $140, and the girls were'nt drinking. We even took our own tequila as they make a pretty weak drink. Gonna have to try the Maddog tacos

I think it was called Isabella's. Right on 76 about 2 blocks before the Fallbrock turn. Was great food, been going down hill for a couple of years now.
