:angry  :angry  :angry Got woken up out of a sound sleep at 4:07am by my car alarm going off.  Someone punched a hole in rear passenger side triangle window. :angry  :angry  :angry  :finger  Doesn't look like they actually got in the car, guess the alarm scared them off...but they sure skedaddled in a hurry.  The police seem to think that the crime that has gone on in our complex is coming from the inside, I tend to agree.  It's not random enough to be random...if that makes any sense.

I'm tired but too spooked (and pissed) to try to go back to sleep, so I already filed the claim with my insurance company.  I'm working on the police report and waiting to get thru to the glass place.

WOW that sucks. Good thing you had a alarm, or your car may have been gone.

Thanks guys.  Needless to say, I'm less that thrilled at having to drop $250 bucks first thing in the morning. :pissed   Claims are all in but the local glass place doesnt' open 'til 8am. I hope they will be able to replace it today, I don't know if that nuisance window is something places keep in stock.

I'm actually surprised the alarm went off.  I didn't think they even got the door open but maybe they did.  I'll check further once it's light out...I was too chicken to stay out by myself for too long.

Oh man, that sucks.  Sorry to hear that you have to deal with this.  I had that happen to me about a year ago when we still lived in San Diego.  I felt really violated after that and was really paranoid to go outside at night eventhough we were in a totally safe neighborhood.  The cops just said that it was a couple of kids.  They took my leather jacket, gym bag with running shoes and an mp3 player, and a book of cds.

Hope your day gets better! :(

That sucks. I know the feeling. I had a Blazer stolen out of my driveway a couple of years back. :angry  :cry I remember walking out to get in it to go to work. I just stood trying to remember if I had left it somewhere. Then it hit me. :banghead  :pissed  :jawdrop I'm still pissed about it. :guns  :flamed Hope your day gets better. :good

I wonder if any other cars got hit here last night...might take a walk thru the complex just to see.

I had just started feeling safe here again.  :banghead  :(

The cost comes in under my deductible, I figured it would be close.  $209.49...grrrrrrrrr.  But they can fix it this afternoon, sometime between 1 and 5.  On a funny note, while I was on hold I got serenaded by Barry White. :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao

Man I am sorry to hear, that really sucks!

I remember when I was about 17 my car was broke into  :banghead and they stole my stereo that I just got for Christmas, I was pretty upset But my Dad was even more pissed than I was :angry  :pissed . So he took my car and hooked up a old model T coil to the body so that when you touched the car it would shock the crap out of you and it would knock you on your  :ass  The only bad thing I kept forgetting to turn it off and  I was on my  :ass  more than anyone else! :eek  :laugh

I hope that everything is ok and your day gets better! :good

Okay...I'm filling out an online police report and I have 3 choices...Attempted Auto Theft/Vehicle Tampering (broken ignition, hotwired etc), Vandalism(damaging a vehicle), or Vehicle Burglary(stolen equipment/belongings from vehicle).  I'm sure the intent was vehicle theft or burglary, but since nothing was taken does it fall under vandalism?  They don't make it easy for you.  :rolleyes

I know in the scheme of life this is small potatoes.  I'm fine, I still have my car and while I'm out a couple hundred bucks, it's not gonna kill me.  But it's the disregard/disrespect for others' property that pisses me off...and just that feeling of being violated and unsafe.

And dang....for such a small window there sure is a lot of glass!  Of course most of it ended up on my goretex jacket...going to really have to shake it out before I put it on again. :eek

Thank you everyone for your concern and support. :good   Anyone want to come do a little varmint hunting for me? :D

Go for Vandalism. That's they only thing they did. Just be cause the alarm scared them off, you can't prove intent.

I'm sorry to hear it CK.  But you weren't hurt, so try not to let it ruin your day.  It's really the disrespect that pisses me off.  Hopfully alittle corned beef and cabage (plus green beers never hurt) will cheer you up!  :beer

Oh man Kat, that really sucks. It makes you feel so violated. :pissed
.
Tempered glass gets everywhere when broken, you'll find pieces of it months from now again.
Consider yourself lucky they broke the cheap window.
.
After being broken into a couple times I finally got into the habit of not leaving anything in the car, I mean pretty much anything. If they don't see something they want they more likely move on to the next vehicle.
.
Keep a watch for some tweaked kids in your complex, I'd be a betting man its someone like that.

I don't have corned beef and cabbage...will spinach and asparagus work? :stupid  :laugh

My neighbor just came over to check on me and make sure I knew about my car.  Her husband woke up when the alarm went off, I saw their lights go on.  Her first words to me were, "do you think this is an inside job?"  She told me another neighbor of ours (we live in a cul de sac of 8 condos in a complex of approx 120 units) is on the board now so I should talk to her.  They had private security here at one time, maybe it's time to reinstate it.  Or at least add motion sensitive lights to the dim lights outside each unit, that might help too.

Really sorry to hear about your broken window Kat!  :(

But I'm glad you weren't involved in any way......lately, around here, they've been breaking windows...with bullets...
..one poor lady happened to be on the other side of the glass the other day. RIP.

Definately report it to the HOA - if they disregard you and take no action and it happens again, you may have grounds to have them re-imburse you, or more!

Lights are always a big deterent.
Spinach and Asparagus would perfect with a huge slab of prime rib and a baked potatoe.
