That's sad.
Logic tells you and everyone involved whats right, but I can see the facts from the corp side of things too. Even the husband knows it and hopes for a lucky break.
Thats truely a rock and hard spot.  :(
I wish them the best.

I'd be willing to bet most any retailer has a clause like that, especially the bigger places.

I'd bet most self funded insurance programs have something along those lines as well... since everyone is paying into the program, everyone should benifit from a settlement... right or wrong it's the way the game is played.

What sucks is that they don't have some sort of long term care insurance...

I actually went home and asked my mother-in-law if Target had a policy like that. She went ahead and comfirmed that they do not have a policy like that.

Very sad the way some things are handled legally these days. Corporate seems to be very good at not noticing how their policies affect everyday people.

That's cool, thanks for asking her. A While back there was some nasty false rumors about Target going around...I checked it out on Snopes:

I'm glad, because we have one close by and my wife jets in there fairly often to buy stuff. I like that they give back to the communities too!  :good

That happened to us.  Jeff and Cody were in an accident and received a settlement. We had to pay back the medical costs to the union benefit fund.

The part about the son is so heartbreaking.  It reminds me of "The Notebook."

Yes it is and do you think that corporate even care's, I think NOT!

I can remember back when Wal-Fart came to the west cost and how they all boasted on how they took care of there employee's and customers. Also how they gave jobs to the elderly that needed work.

People can sit there and defend the insurance all they want but that doesn't make it right! Specially when they made 90 Billion dollars, I think that they can make some exceptions Wal-mart SUCKS!!! :finger

For what it's worth, I don't shop at Wal-Mart.  I like Target for that sort of thing.  The store is cleaner and better organized.

I shop at Target too, I've never been in a WalMart that wasnt' a dump.  Target is starting to carry a lot more high end stuff these days, such as skin care products and bedding that you'd find at Macy's, Dillards etc.  The Target catalog I just got looked a whole lot more like a Nordies catalog than one for a discount store.
