I agree with Calikat--- I don't want to be in an accident in one of those things. It's worse than driving a golf cart. At least if I get hit in my golf cart I get ejected. I think that tiny little car would double as a casket after getting hit. Yikes!

On the other hand, at least those things are around to offset the gas guzzling our truck is going to do...

There is one that sits at the 7-11 buy the house that's like a lavender and gray. Looks like I could put it in the back of my truck. Â

I saw one in Laughlin last summer. The owner was more than happy to show me the car. It is a lot roomier inside than you would think. The only thing I couldn't get over was there is nothing in front of you when you look out the windshield.

Seen a few around, sure are butt ugly too. They look smaller than an old V Dub bug, be kinda scary driving around town let alone the freeway, they should put a full roll cage in them things!..

In a way they sort of do. They have a steel "safety cell" around the driver/passenger that they liken to the shell of a walnut. That sounds good...but it still doesn't prevent anything bigger and heavier from squashing it like a grape. Anything with a higher wheelbase (which would be most other cars on the road, right?) would go right over the top of it.
It sounds good for tooling around town, until you factor in the fact that most crashes occur close to home. The speed factor may be lower on those roads, but the results can still be deadly.

No kidding. Â People around here are dumping their trucks and SUVs...or trying to. Â No one wants to buy them. |
Cool, maybe I'll be able to pick up a truck or tahoe cheap. |
You should, especially if you want to hop over the border to Cali. I have a friend working at a Chevy dealership up in your area, the owner is one of his best friends so he landed himself a cushy job. He lives in Fallon, not sure if that is where the dealership is. Let me know if you want more info.

It gets 30-40 MPG
I don't understand why the vehicles of the mid 80s (Geo Metro, Ford Festiva, Honda CRX) could get 45-50 mpg and the new vehicles get significantly less. I know they've changed the way they account for it just this year, but it is still a LOT less than it was back then. People are getting all exited over a car that gets 33 MPG when my camaro got 30 when I got it. Big deal! Show me into the 40s and 50s and I'll consider giving up a little safety. Otherwise, forget it.
I've been looking at all they hybrids and they advertise 30-40 mpg, but give you the base price, which doesn't include the hybrid engine, which is usually 3-6 grand more. I feel I can purchase a lot of gas for 3-6 thousand dollars and have more power to show for it.
Bottom line is, I know the technology is out there to create more efficient engines and they aren't being produced.
