I've got 3 desktops, 2 laptops, and 3 printers all networked together. Any computer can print to any printer.
This is the coolest thing I ever did:
One day, I came home from work in a big hurry to get an HDF Store order shipped out. My home post office software is on a desktop, but the network's internet connection, which is required, was down. As a quick and temporary solution, I went online with my laptop and a wireless card. I, then, created an ad-hoc connection between the laptop and the desktop. After I bridged those connections on the laptop, my desktop had an internet connection.

That's pretty cool...
At the school, there's HP Deskjets sittin' all over the place, costing us a fortune to print out b/w pages...
By sharing across the school's domain, one small laserjet can service a classroom, the network color printers can handle a whole wing...
I've got some of the teacher's logging on at home and printing at school...job's there when they get there...
Now, if someone would fill the PAPER once in awhile..

Negative Ghostrider...they have to use their own Internet connection, but can log into the SB Domain...
I've got many of them up on the school's server via a (virtual)shared drive...that way they have their files/desktop/etc. when they login...
We did have a VPN Intranet at GenMills...
