It's amazing how life turns out. Today is my official one-year anniversary at my job...literrally two days after rolling into Tucson. Â As many of you may know, I moved from Chicago to Tucson to be with good ole Sleek. As much as I knew I wanted to be with him, relocating my entire life was definitely leap of faith, hoping that my relationship, jobs, friends would all work out.
And work out it has! Sleek and I get married in a few months. I've made some amazing new friends. And my job really couldn't be better. Not only have I flourished where I'm working, I feel like it's finally seeing the growth I had hoped for. I found out this morning that I am being appointed as an alternate to the Pima County Women's commission, with the intent to replace a friend of mine who may be moving in a year. I've been chosen to represent the Center on the Arizona Women's Political Caucous, and over the course of the past few months, compliments have bounded in from the community through co-workers who are hearing great things about my work.
What can I say...Tucson ain't that bad  Moving here was definitely a risk, but sometimes those risks are worth taking. No regrets...you just never know what will happen

Congratulations on your anniversary, your pending marriage, the appointment, the new friends, what else? did I miss something? 
That's exactly why AZ needs to keep it's borders open - so peeps like you can come there and do good things and have a great life! 
You Do have a green card, don't you?  
It's a fact of Life:
After Monday and Tuesday, even the Calendar says : WTF .......

Thanks all. I am learning to love AZ...it hasn't been easy. I think I'll always be a Chicago girl at heart. Sleek deserves much credit. Last summer was tough...and he didn't send me packing even when I thought I wanted to And I couldn't do my job without his support. He listens to all the moans and groans, he goes to my events, but more importantly, he allows me to do my job in every capacity which means evening meetings, late dinners together, and working weekends.

I'm happy things are working out for you, Becky. That makes me look forward to our move even more. About 2 years for us, though. But we plan to list the house around Sept/Oct. As soon as it starts to cool down.
