Careful LB....folks will start to think you're an environmentalist! ;)

Sadly, I think these events will become the norm as our weather cycle continues to change, whetherr naturally or human influenced.  We already know the BS about how strong our levee system is...what a joke.  :rolleyes  Too much water in one part of the country, not nearly enough in the other, it's like someone is playing a cruel joke on us. :(

I have a very good friend from another board who lives in Iowa.  His 80+ year old parents just lost everything in the Cedar Rapids flooding, with the exception of one car and some clothes.  My friend just lost his wife to cancer a month ago, and he's a police officer.  To say his life is stressful at the moment would be an understatement.  :(

They're saying that some of the small towns devastated in these floods may just disappear.  We hear about things like that happening in other countries, especially in the poorest areas, and yet we never expect it to happen to us.

Thanks CE.  In spite of all the chaos going on in his life, Garry doesn't ever stop thinking about everyone else.  When he heard about the fire out here, his first thought was my safety.  He's just that kind of guy.  We've got a good group of people on that board and we've rallied around to buy gift cards for his folks to help them start over.  We can't replace a lifetime of memories, but at least we can help make this time a little easier for them. :good

I had to laugh just a bit a go. On cnn they were showing I think 3 truck loads of stuff that just arived in New Orleans to help out Katrina victums.  :stupid  Granted they are still trying to recover, But shouldn't this stuff be heading to Iowa  and surrounding area thats flooded. A place NOW devistated.

You'd think....but maybe since the towns are all still under water, they figure there's no place for the stuff to go? :stupid

At least with Katrina there was the tourism aspect of New Orleans and the gulf coast areas that helped bring in much needed $$$ and publicity...the midwest just doesn't have that kind of draw.  I doubt we'll see the big name stars throwing their support to the midwest, there's not enough publicity there. :rolleyes  :(
