What I really like, is the "stainless look" without the stainless steel. Â I hate stainless...
Never mind... I was just told it was the Amana French door fridge... I've been drinking... Â |
The Samsung stainless is resistant to hand smudges, amazingly....the faux stainless look we thought we wanted too but a closer look made us back away from it, then I saw one on display that was chipped and scratched...its just paint The drawers in this one roll out fully and not just 75% of the way, and other little detailed features like this that were convincing. Samsung also has one of the highest Consumer Reports ratings as well as nearly all positive forum comments. . I'm looking forward to the stainless for another reason, no more useless things stuck to the doors with magnets but the sides will be available for some limited magnetic do-dads

Quote (CaliKat @ July 27 2008,7:13 pm) | That's what I want in my next fridge. Â Side by sides are too narrow in the freezer part, and I'm sick of stuff falling out of my top freezer in mine. Â The big frozen ice packs I have in there really hurt when they land on top of your bare foot. |
When we started shopping all we looked at were the SxS, that's all I've had for 20+ years.....but the one statement that instantly changed our minds was: Where do you put a party platter or large pizza leftover box? Well duh, that made instant sense . Also, since the fridge is used 80-85% vs the freezer its gonna be nice not to have to get on the floor to reach the stuff in the bottom fridge drawers...

I thought the magnets are what keeps the door on my fridge...

We have some freinds that have one similar to that. I realy like the refer room. The only thing I don't like is the drawer freezer. I guess I look at that like a chest freezer. Everyone that I know that has a chest freezer complains about what a pain it is to get to things at the bottom or the things at the bottom get forgoten.

My In-Laws have one like this and said they do not like the bending over all the time to get stuff out of the freezer, we have a SxS and a pizza box fits just fine, and a large frig and a stand up large freezer down in the basement. |
I guess it just depends on what you use more. We use the fridge a lot more, so we're constantly bending down to find stuff that gets buried on the bottom. And even the top shelf in my folks' fridge requires you to bend down to actually see what is on that shelf, we all hate that fridge. My bro has a side by side and I swear it takes the strength of 10 men to get the doors open on it, esp. the freezer.

We have a side by side and they do seal tight, sometimes it does take a grunt to open it!..

I'd like to find one that's all fridge, no freezer. I have a big upright freezer and don't really need the little freezer attached to the fridge. They probably make them, I haven't really looked as my current fridge is still chugging along (knock on wood). Hopefully it will hold out till the move, like everything else.
