Fridge shoppimg sounds so exciting huh?
We went off to replace our side by side and ended up with the newest trend, the french door model. Not any frenchdoor fridge but the Samsung. This particular model is such high demand there is a 3+ week waiting period at most stores.
After we finally decided it was the one to get for multiple reasons we nailed one down in stock at our local Fry's. They didn't have the best price but they did have a price-match policy which we took advantage of. They were the only store that carried these models with 2 in stock, delivery next day :good  :good
Two cooling coils, one for fridge, one for freezer. Huge space and well thought out storage compartments that make sense. 29 cubic ft of space and its the same physical size of our 27.
Sounds funny but I'm excited to get it tomorrow. Old fridge goes in the new house we are gonna rent.
Samsung RFG297

My dream fidge... 'cept I want the one without the water and Ice in the door.... Becky and I are going to put one in the kitchen when we redo it.

What I really like, is the "stainless look" without the stainless steel.  I hate stainless...

Never mind... I was just told it was the Amana French door fridge... I've been drinking... :D  :drink

That's what I want in my next fridge. :good   Side by sides are too narrow in the freezer part, and I'm sick of stuff falling out of my top freezer in mine.  The big frozen ice packs I have in there really hurt when they land on top of your bare foot. :cry

The Samsung stainless is resistant to hand smudges, amazingly....the faux stainless look we thought we wanted too but a closer look made us back away from it, then I saw one on display that was chipped and scratched...its just paint :say?
The drawers in this one roll out fully and not just 75% of the way, and other little detailed features like this that were convincing. Samsung also has one of the highest Consumer Reports ratings as well as nearly all positive forum comments.
.
I'm looking forward to the stainless for another reason, no more useless things stuck to the doors with magnets :laugh  but the sides will be available for some limited magnetic do-dads :peace

When we started shopping all we looked at were the SxS, that's all I've had for 20+ years.....but the one statement that instantly changed our minds was: Where do you put a party platter or large pizza leftover box? Well duh, that made instant sense :rolleyes
.
Also, since the fridge is used 80-85% vs the freezer its gonna be nice not to have to get on the floor to reach the stuff in the bottom fridge drawers... :D

We have some freinds that have one similar to that. I realy like the refer room. The only thing I don't like is the drawer freezer. I guess I look at that like a chest freezer. Everyone that I know that has a chest freezer complains about what a pain it is to get to things at the bottom or the things at the bottom get forgoten.

My In-Laws have one like this and said they do not like the bending over all the time to get stuff out of the freezer, we have a SxS and a pizza box fits just fine, and a large frig and a stand up large freezer down in the basement.

I guess it just depends on what you use more.  We use the fridge a lot more, so we're constantly bending down to find stuff that gets buried on the bottom.  And even the top shelf in my folks' fridge requires you to bend down to actually see what is on that shelf, we all hate that fridge.  My bro has a side by side and I swear it takes the strength of 10 men to get the doors open on it, esp. the freezer.

I'd like to find one that's all fridge, no freezer.  I have a big upright freezer and don't really need the little freezer attached to the fridge.  They probably make them, I haven't really looked as my current fridge is still chugging along (knock on wood).  Hopefully it will hold out till the move, like everything else.

I know that they make them in an industrial type, like for a restaurant.  Quite sure they are huge $$$$.

Saw one at a scratch and dent sale at a highend store by the house. $7000 fridge for $2500 :eek And it was an insert flush mount. Think it was a Viking.  A seperate fridge and freezer would be awsome  :good
