Newbie from Michigan.  Found this site tonight.

Been wanting to experience Lake Havasu for many years.  Got a crew that is interesting in going out there next year with me.  Thinking about having boat hauled out for the 2000 mile trip and then we would fly in for 10 days of fun and sun sometime late April early May (that's cold weather boating up here time).

Trying to decide if it would be worth the hassle of bringing boat or renting.  Also, what are the marina's like for transit boaters?  Would you stay at a marina or find a place to stay on the hook?

Thanks for your input.

Mike

Late April will be the busiest weekend of the year. All prices will be jacked up too. Make your reservations really early.

Isn't Miss OP6C (Deena..SP?) from Michigan??? They would be good people to ask, because I think they brought their boat out...

It's been a few years for me (out of the loop with kiddos) but I know you'll get some answers soon enough :)

Good time to come really. Water still a bit chilly(by my standards :laugh )
Havasu has basically 3 public choices for launching, the Marina, Site6(free but steep and slick), and the State park ramps known as Windsor.
If you reserve a room at the Nautical Inn I believe you can use their private ramp, its gravel but no lines.
Welcome to Dougs site btw :good

Oh yeah, probably 85% or more of the boaters launch daily, very few docks available at the marina....and likely reserved well in advance. Here's their websiteHavasu Marina
.
You do get to drive accross the Famous "London Bridge" to get there(or Site6 for that matter ;) )

If you got the time and a good truck, I would make the drive yourself, It's not bad I do it all the time and besides that you will have your truck to go and do some off roading. The last time I was out there we took my lifted f250 off roading up to some falls and had to go up a river bed to get there, way up in the mountains, was a lot of fun.

I really won't be using my own truck if we do decide take my boat.  It's about 19,000 lbs loaded.  Are there any cool bars on the water where you can dock?  Also, is is possible to just crash on the boat after the bars close?  That seems to be a nice habit of me and my friends - no drunk driving then.

I read you Havasu started seeing Zebra Mussles.  Been dealing with them f'g things for a long time up here.  I was actually planning to pull boat out of storage and load onto semi in April for the drive out.  That way I don't have to deal with all the permits.

Yes the picture was in front of Cedar Point.  Great Park for Rides by boat except the gas (Over $1000 for trip).  Boat is 40' and 11' beam.

OK, so no bars on the water.  Is there a nightlife near by?
