Just thought I'd let y'all know that Bogey the bionic dog is back home from the animal hospital.

Needless to say he was ecstatic to see us when we got there to pick him up!

Now, to keep him from running around and messing up the whole thing, that's the chore! ;)

Yup.  DEFINITELY better than a refrigerator. ;)  :good

I'm glad Bogey is home.  Give him a tummy rub and a kiss on the head for me.

Nice orange cast, Bogey!  I had a hot pink one. :laugh

Heal, Bogey! :)

Boy, what a night. Since he's not supposed to climb stairs I took the first shift and slept downstairs with him the first night. Wasn't bad at all since he was still pretty loopy from the drugs.
Last night my youngest wanted to stay down there with him so we let her. Mistake.

First of all, she sleeps like a log, secondly, he wanted to be upstairs with mom and pa, so he made it up the first flight of stairs dragging that big ol cast behind him.

I wake up at 3 am to the sound of my wife yelling,"Oh My God!" ....
...of course I leap out of bed (that was humorous) and go running out to the hall yelling "where are you? what's wrong?"
Of course she replies, "Here". That helped.

Where the F is HERE???!!!

"Oh, here in the kitchen".

I go running down and there's the dog. He's fine - she just yelled because she almost fell over him. She heard him whining and went down to see what was wrong. Found him at the bottom of the big flight of stairs wanting up.

Meanwhile the kid is sleeping through all of this.

So I carry him down, turn to my wife....and say,"Your turn! goodnight."
And went back upstairs!  :D

The doc said the leg should be fully load bearing after two weeks... :rolleyes

I'm thinking that after the bandages come off on Monday we'll see how he gets along. I'm thinking things should be near normal by then.  :bowdown

Be careful, load bearing and runs up and down steps at WOT are a bit different. You might try one of the kid gates that go in door frames in keep kids out. Or from going up stairs.

I hear you! We've got two gates up right now.

One set at the bottom of the stairs and another about 8 feet back from those just in case!  :D

He's very resourceful when it comes to getting through barriers.

He once ripped the planking off my son's backyard fence and ran 3 miles to our house looking for us when we went on vacation. They tried locking him in the house......I had to install new molding around the front door!  :banghead

Damn dog just can't stand being away from us. I'm sure he's serenaded the neighbors a few times already this morning. He'll just moan sometimes.  :(

Poor doggie... :(

Reminds me a little of what I went through. :laugh   I was in FL by myself when I broke my leg.  When I finally was able to get on a plane to come back to CA, my folks had a driver pick me up at LAX (who thought I was coming in at 9pm, not am, but that's another story).  When I finally got to my parents' house I got out of the car with my crutches, hobbled toward the front door and stopped.  I couldn't figure out how to get up the two stairs to the front door.  My brain wouldn't compute what my crutches and good leg needed to do...I think because I was so afraid of coming down on the bad leg.  I was under strict instructions to put NO weight on it whatsoever, since I was only in a fracture boot (the docs in FL wanted me to see a surgeon in CA rather than cast it there).  I just stood there and cried.  The driver was about to pick me up and carry me up the stairs when I finally figured out what I was supposed to do.  It's not like I"d never been on crutches before...but I think the fear was paralyzing.  Might have been the stress and the drugs, too. :rolleyes  :laugh

Stairs SUCK when you have a cast....right Bogey?

The gates did no good!  :banghead

My wife called at lunchtime. She went home to check on him and when she opened the door, there he was waiting for her.
On the WRONG side of the gate!

The gate was still intact. Even though we blocked the couch by pulling up the cushions and piling stuff up, he climbed up and jumped over the damn couch!!  :eek

I sure hope he didn't dislodge the steel plate!

Anyone know where to get a doggie straight jacket?  :beat

Oh, he'll stay if you do! :D

The minute you leave he's king of the house.

I get home from work today and he is relaxing in the recliner alongside my daughter.
She said he was just staring at her.....he has mind control you know....next thing she knows she's helping him up into the chair.

The saga continues......

Monday we had the big orange soft cast taken off. I was a bit worried about him getting at the site and asked the doc about that.
He said not to worry, most dogs leave it alone.

That's the problem, he's not like most dogs. First thing he did was try and lick the wound. So I put a light bandage on it to get us through the night until we could pick up one of those collars.

He was OK until sometime in the morning yesterday when he ripped off the bandage and went to town removing staples. He got about 12 of them out by the time my wife got back with the collar (which was too big). A pretty gruesome sight he was.

She called me at work - a bit upset, understandably.

So back to the Animal Hospital he went. Stapled him up and gave us a collar that fit.

Now he walks around like a zombie, walking into everything.

Now I'm just waiting for his next trick!  :banghead

Cone Head, Cone Head, Bogey's a Cone Head.  :D   Poor Guy. The way they swing that cone around to see where they're going is kinda funny. You can sure hear'em coming. Hope that Bogey continues to heal.  :good
