SO, I spent sunday night in a hospital for a sleep study and they confirmed that I have sleep apnea and was stopping breathing during sleep up to 100 times per hour.  (Whatever doc)  I just figured I was always tired because I was working too hard  :rotflmao

SO I got this breathing mask deal and tried it last night for the first time.  IMPOSSIBLE!!!!  This just ain't gonna work for me.  I woke up 7 times last night to either take the damn thing off or put it back on.  It is WAY too uncomfortable and much harder for me to breathe :rolleyes

SO, does anyone use this mask thing, and if so, what adjustments did you have to make so it is comfortable and the air flow is sufficient?

I am tired of being tired and I really want this thing to work for me, but at this rate I'm gonna give up on it within a week.

Sorry to hear about that. I knew someone who suffered from it and it can be a nightmare.

Coincidently, was the mask you got made by a company called Respironics? I make a display for them, they are probably the world's largest manufacturer of those masks.

You should check out all the different models they make to find one that works for you. i have a bunch here in my office that I used to fit the display.

Yes, it's a Respironics.  It's supposed to be their top of the line model with the Gel in it for comfort.
Didn't give me much comfort though last night :banghead  :banghead

Sometimes the small rubber ones are more comfortable, here's a few I have. Does it look like one of those?

There is no way in Hell I'd be able to sleep with something like that on my mug.

I think I'll just take a nap in the afternoon if I'm feeling a bit groggy...

Jeez... Jim, if you have to wear one of the contraptions, I can see why you couldn't get any sleep.  Looks like the cure is worse then the disease...

Yeah, that's the machine I got alright.  The mask is the ComfortGel Nasal.

Maybe I should look into a full mask?  One thing that I noticed last night is if I opened my mouth (Either intentionally or unintentionally) it would suck the air right out of my lungs.  At least that's what it felt like.  Not a comfortable thing for sure.  Maybe I'll give it another nights try and if it don't help tonight I'll call the supplier tomorrow and tell them I want to try the full mask.

Yeah, I tried the nap thing, and still do when I get a chance.  BUT, the Mrs says I snore really loud so she will get up and go sleep on the couch in the living room. :D  :D
During the sleep study, the Doctor said that I snored so loud that the EKG sensors on my Calfs picked up the vibrations :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao

I always figured (and said) that the cure is worse than the disease, and have always wondered why Doctors "Practice" Medicine and have a Medical "Practice", but I need to do something here.  4 Hours of restless sleep a night just ain't cutting it.
The only time in the past few years when I got a full night sleep was when I got so drunk I passed out :eek  :beer   WAIT!!!!  Maybe I'm on to something here!!! :drink  :drink  :sleep  :sleep

I hear you man, nothing worse than irregular sleep for a long period of time.

It can really mess you up. Naps don't cut it for me. I can fall asleep in 5 minutes at any time of the day.

I don't think I've had a full night's uninterrupted sleep since May!  :banghead

I hear ya.  Try this one, pull up to a red light while driving a car and take a short nap.  That's happened to me on numerous occasions.  SO far my foot hasn't slipped off the brake pedal, but I've sure heard lotsa various tones from car horns :D
And of course, I've had lotsa friendly folks showing me that their middle finger is nice and clean :finger  :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao

So it's either get 4 hours a night sleep because of the apnea... or get 4 hours because of the mask... :D

The upshot is the doctors get to charge your insurance (or you I guess) big $$$$ for all of this...  :good

This aging thing is a little overrated I think.  Eyesight went to crap, hearing is a constant ringing, Heart Attack last September, Diagnosed with a blood clotting gene mutation condition that now I can't travel (or sit in the same place) for more than 3 hours, and now this. :banghead  :banghead

I can deal with the rest of the crap.  Just want to get some sleep someday.   :banghead  :banghead

On the brighter side though, at least I still got a full head of hair :D  :D   And I buy so buch hair coloring that I could probably sustain  the Miss Clairol company income single handidly  :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao

4 hours sleep. That's a unheard of for me. I'm lucky to get two hours at once. Except in Havi. I can sleep hard for 6 straight hours. The lower humidty helps a lot. Helps with my snoring too, so I'm told.

A few years back I went and did the test. They could not get any good results due to I couldn't sleep with all the wires and crap. The bed was sh!t as well. I probly should give it another shot. I'm in the same boat. I bet I don't get 4 good hours of sleep a night and the wife gets pissed off at the snoring as well.
