Wallet and sweatshirt found a quarter mile away. Kindda strange. Something else they said that was strange is that area was never searched even though it was his favoriye place to fly. :stupid

Not to suprising... I know of several wrecks that weren't found for months... the bodies were scavanged by animals... a couple bones here and there were all that was ever found.

A lot of things do make me go hmmmmmmm.  If the fuselage disintegrated on impact would it be possible for him to have been thrown clear?  Was he alive and injured and staggered off to find help before succombing to injuries/elements?  Were his remains hauled off by scavengers?

This story was daily fodder up in my neck of the woods since our local news pilot was involved in the search.  I'll have to check to see where the last confirmed visual sighting of his plane was, I know they used that as a basis for the search grid if he had run out of gas or had engine failure.  From what I remember, Mammoth didn't figure in that grid area.

There are still some oddities...how often is someone rich and famous declared dead so quickly..especially someone with the means to "disappear"?  And how come this was the one time he wasn't wearing his fancy dancy Inpector Gadget watch that had its own locator beacon, as has been reported?

Hmmmmmm :stupid

They'd best hustle their buns on the search...weather is a comin' to the mountain, what evidence there is may soon be covered up yet again.

Last visual was Lake Tahoe. They haven't said anything about any radar contacts.

Yeah, The new definition of organ donor. Haven't seen the pic's yet but they are describing it as though it was face first into the side of the mountain and the motor rolled 300' uphill. Not much chance of walking away from that.

It certainly would seem impossible to walk away from a head on crash into a mountain...but that should also leave some trace of a body in the wreckage.  I'm sure there was some scavenger activity, but given the weather conditions, it's possible that the body was covered with snow/ice much of this time.  Hell, they're expecting snow there tonight.  And I'd expect some clothing remnants at least.

What also strikes me as VERY odd was the reaction of the hiker who supposedly found this stuff.  He didn't know who Steve Fosset was?  Possible...but not probable.  He tries contacting the Fosset family on his own?  Odd.  Then he contacts a lawyer...and he and the lawyer go back to the wreckage site...with a film crew who just happens to be in the area working on a project about Fosset.  Their explanation?  "We just wanted to provide the authorities with the most amount of information."  Bullpoop.  :rolleyes  After all that, then they contact the police.  And then they supposedly find a fleece jacket...yet Fosset left only wearing shorts and a shirt.  :stupid  

I dunno...no firm evidence either way at this point...but it sure makes for a good TV show or movie.

The local news stations are now reporting that itty bitty bits of human remains have been found...hopefully enough for a dna confirmation.  They are working hard to get the remains and wreckage off the mountain before the snowstorm hits tomorrow.

Now the local sheriff is saying (as of late last night) they found *A* bone fragment...and he couldn't say if it was human or animal. According to him, saying human remains were found was a gross overstatement and he was in no way willing to say Steve Fossett was killed in the crash.

Hmmmmmm....maybe that snowstorm will be convenient....
