Joined Sea Tow a couple of years back. Was about a $100. Last year was $125. Just got my renewal and it's now $149.
What do they do that's different or better than Vessel Assist. Did I miss something somewhere. I've always thought that they both did the exact same thing. Btw, Vessel Assist is only $53 per year.

Found this on some other site:

Thank you for the feedback on our partner, Vessel Assist Lake Havasu, we appreciate comments from boaters.

On a seperate note, we just lowered our price in Havasu to $59 per year. It is unlimited and it covers you on any fresh water lake and river nationwide.

Thanks,
Heather Warmington

My guess is that if you don't boat in the ocean, this would be the way to go.

Check your Insurance company. I know I'm covered with State Farm. Plus, I usually boat with my buddy who has Sea Tow since he fishes Catalina just about every other week.

Keep boat in Havi, so no salt.
Vessel Assist nor Sea Tow covers buddy's boat. Lots of way around that though, like switch boats. Still can't see how Sea Tow can charge 3 times as much. My insurance covers tows up to $300. Gotta pay then wait for reinbursment check.

I have been planning on switching for the last number of months. They've been double or less the last couple years. Now almost triple. Of course the only time I ever used them was before I was a member. One tow bill conviced me forever.

We were at the sandbar once and one of the boats in our group had a problem and had to be towed down to Havasu. My buddy called Sea Tow and when they got there he told him the boat was his and they towed it, no problem.

He was told that any boat he is skipper of is covered...rental, borrowed, didn't matter.

Debbie :love and Russ (sea tow) are real good people and will definetly go WAY out of their way to help anyone on the lake.

Also Sea Tow carries a full cooler of beer for your enjoyment on the tow home :beer

They'll pretty much tow anything your on. You can't call them and say my buddies boat broke and I want you to tow it. Last trip I towed a new Magic from Steamboat to Windsor. If it had been a buddy vs a complete stranger, I would have just switched boats with him and made the call.

I've been playing roulette and haven't joined either yet.
The pricing is interesting alright. I've always heard super good things about Russ(the yellow boats) but at 3 times the price? :stupid
I'm sure the Red boats will get you back to safe harbor too, but perhaps without an extra cooler on board?
.
I've mentally tried to count how many of each I've seen going out and towing someone back and I'd have to say I've probably seen more Red Vessel Assist's.

Cheap insurance Zig. Get a tow without a membership, and those beers are gonna cost ya $100+ each minimum. As far as Russ goes, one of the nicest, friendly, and down to earth types you'de ever want to meet. If your being towed, your day hasn't gone so good and your probably not in the best of moods, he goes out of his way to make it a bit better.
