For a while now I've been admiring a few of the Apple products....it all started with the iPod I got as a gift years ago.
That led to an iPod video model as a gift the following year - I even installed a special processor to integrate it with my OEM car system.

Then the kids, one by one, got iPhones.....and a few weeks ago I swapped my new 3G Razr for an iPhone.

Now I'm finding that I have to support a few Mac users on my network and am considering buying a Mac Book Pro. I really dig the billet aluminum box, but does anyone love what's inside?  :stupid

My wife, and both my kids have PC laptops.  They have had a few problems.  Not with the operating system (vista) But with the performance of the computer.

I'm getting a Mac.

My next laptop will be a mac.  I'd get one now, but they are pretty pricey.  This one is only a year old.  Jeff and the kids could use their own so they'd stay off mine, but it's not in the cards right now.  Maybe next year.  The oldest will be going off to college in 18 short monts and will need a laptop to go with her.

Depends on your needs... :stupid  MAC is a great graphics/video/music machine, surf the net and work email, but it's not a "business" platform, per se.... :beat   I've been using both for awhile...still prefer the PC... ;)

Well I decided that I'd need a "test" machine in order to make sure that the salespeople can get in to our VPN... :D

Mentioned an approximate cost to the the guy who signs the checks and got a thumbs up. There's a Mac Book Pro headed my way - of course i got XP loaded on it so I could use it for real work.  :good

I'll let my daughter use it for a little while to make sure that it's what she really wants for a graduation gift. She wants to major in fashion design, so that's Mac territory.

They sure aren't cheap. In fact, my credit card company called to make sure I really made that purchase....there's a lot of fraud going down these days they tell me.  :rolleyes

I can appreciate the work that went into it.......I keep telling myself that to justify the cost  :break

Damn right on the fraud. Friday afternoon the fraud unit from my back callrd. Somebody jacked my wifes ATM # and made a $743 purchase from some company in Saudi. They didn't get any money but what a hassle. Account frozen for about 2 weeks till they issue new card. Hopefully it will slow down the wifes shopping. :good   J/K, nothing will slow her down.

In my profession, I support PC, MAC, and Linux OS Machines on Laptops Workstations and Servers.  I have a few engineering firm customers that primarily use macs with MS Windows XP Pro.  The MACS now have a program built into the Leopard OSX that allows you to run Windows as Well as the MAC OS.  Quite handy to someone that likes to have the abundance of PC based Applications.
The MACS have their good and bad points.  They seem to be more stable BUT there are still some issues with the OS Updates resetting the security permissions every time and also a few other OS issues.  On the Hardware side of it, all I can say is that you better hope that your MAC doesn't have a hardware failure...Good Luck finding parts and an inexpensive repair.  Better off sending the MAC back to APple for repairs and eating the time that it takes to get it returned.  PC's are WAAAAYYYY easier and cheaper to fix a hardware problem and are much less expensive on the initial purchase.

In my opinion, a Good 64bit PC/Laptop Outperforms a MAC and is a much better deal.  :D

Mac Book Pro is the Only way to go...I have used PC's both for work and personal until my son got me and the wife hooked and Macs. We have 3 pc's and two Macs in our home offices and when ever I can I will always go to the Mac first....we do alot of serious computer work though...

Mac's really have an advantage over PC's, you really should research the Mac and all it's advantages over a PC.

If you are not geeker and low on bucks a pc will serve well....just stay away from that Vista vomit....try to get one loaded with Windows XP...

I thought about that after trying the beta of Vista...even the "Premium" version on a quad core machine can be a PITA.

I went and bought 5 additional XP Pro licenses' last year, "just in case".

The latest version of Parallels Desktop looks like fun  :good   soon I'll be totally virtual!  :eek  :laugh
