Just a little note to everyone that there will be a planned database outage in the near future.  Unfortunately, I don't know exactly when it will happen.  :(  Hopefully I will get some sort of notice just prior to this to let you all know.

The purpose is to upgrade the server's MySQL software to a newer version.  MySQL is the database software that runs the message board here.

If it happens with no notice, I will be sure to issue an update stating that the task has been completed. :)

Well the upgrade just happened and is complete. :good

Sorry that I couldn't notify everyone EXACTLY when it would happen, but once I noticed MySQL down, it didn't take long for it to come back up.  I logged in and verified that it's a newer version. :good

If anyone notices features of the board not working right (not speed issues), please post them here and I'll take a look at it.




PS, HDF is a VERY old board and has MANY hacks so some of them might not be compatible with this newer version of MySQL.  For this reason, I only stepped up a little on the MySQL upgrade. :D
