Here's a few images I wanted to share with the group. 8-25-03 was the evening. It was going off this afternoon and evening here in LHC. It stormed for over 5 hours today and it was awesome! I saw 1000's of lightning strikes tonight. It was way out of control. Here's a few. Comments welcome.... :jumpie

Mike those are some kick ass picks. in the second to last pic theres some thing i can shed some light on(yuk yuk). i could be wrong but do you see the big round section of light in the middle-upper left? thats what lighting looks like when its headed STRAIGHT AT YOU. carefull, Bro. you dont stand next to trees and stuff when your filming that stuff do you? indoors i hope?where there any flash floods reported from under that hardcore rain shot? stuff looks pretty thick.

Thanks Doug for the new name. Jason, yes that lightning was very close. I have studied lightning for a long time. I always try to study the storm before I go out filming it to make sure that it is safe. Those images were taken from my garage using a Sony handycam on a tripod. There was flash flood warnings around but it just barely rained a trace here. But in that one photo you can get a idea on really how hard it was raining about 8 miles from me. But it never made it over here. I have a couple of videos of the storm and tried posted them here on HD's forum but since they are in .wmv format it would not let me post them. I'll try today to see if I can get the videos to post. The videos are pretty cool! :jumpie

I just got off the phone with a friend who drove on Rice Road during the storm last night. She said it was so bad you didn't even know what side of the road you were on unless lightning was lighting up the sky. She said water was up to the windows on the lower parts of the road. Good thing they have a 4x4. I'm not sure if that's what saved them, but I'm glad I wasn't in her shoes. They were even thinking about pulling out the life vest for her son to wear in the car just in case. :eek

Wow! They should have drove through Blythe and probably wounldn't of had any problems. I saw over towards the Rice area that evening and it was really going off over there. It barely rained here at all. That storm just brushed us!

Thanks missboatnam. Your one of the few on this board that appreiciate my weather photos. It's funny that some people on this board really don't care. I won't mention any names. Well that storm just barely brushed Lake Havasu but out towards Vidal Junction and Rice it was really going off.
